I opened this discussion because I just bought an eraser after 13 years. Yes you read it right. After 13 years. I was addicted in grade school in eraser.I smell the eraser in pencil, a stand alone eraser and etc. I ended up collecting all variety of eraser from shapes, deign and fragrance. I usually smell the eraser first before buying them. If I recall it right. I have 10 scents of eraser collected. I always keep one a no scent eraser for personal used. The rest is for bragging and personal purposes. If fun to collect erasers.

Cool. That's a strange addiction huh. LOL. It's my first time to hear something like that. I don't even notice the differences among erasers when I was a child. I solely use them for erasing. I was addicted to a pen's ik before (do you know the panda ballpen?), but not with the eraser's scent.=)

Wow, it's a really...specific hobby you have! I agree, smell of an eraser is sometimes quite pleasant. I also recall myself smelling the eraser during the lesson like 10 years ago. I also like the scent of corrector pen, it is something similar to gasoline or a wall paint, I like both of these smells too. I think I can be called a smell junkie, lol.

I did not even know prior to your discussion that erasers actually have fragrances. Interesting, I do not think I would get an obsession with it but will be on the look out for some to see what that is like.

Not a good idea!! I must smell it with the mere act of using it, and it's not good, I don't even like those that have fragances, much better keep my nose away from those maybe dangerous materials the eraser can contain.

hi, dear.:) When I was younger i also have a weird addiction about some stuff. My pencil cases have that sweet fragrance that I couldn't help smelling and i was always excited to open it not because i was looking for pencils or pens but because i love sniffing on it.;) Pencils and ballpens have fruity smells nowadays. Here's an odd habit though, I like to sniff on new rubber slippers.LOL

Hi syoti: It seems that you have a very interesting collection. It might be beautiful to see it. In my case I always love to smell the fragance of the pages of a new book. I usually smell the pages when I put my fingers to a new book I have bought. I feel like I'm touching a little pet I just have bought. I love books and the smell of the pages is like a guilty pleasure to me. ALVARO

That id one for the books. I also love the smell of an eraser but I did not know that it was addictive. I have tried no scent erasers but my observation is when you use it there is a unpleasant smell when it is mixed with what you are erasing. I think that is the reason why scented erasers are marketed.

Rather than this I like to smell petrol very very much... :)

Hi syoti20, just ignore this post if you don't like to read response from people who hate the fragrance of eraser But eraser that gives faint fragrance still bearable. I'm not a freak at all. Just because I have a sensitive nose which is allergic to all items that with strong fragrance. No matter how aromatic and fascinating the aroma are. I would suffer from the pungent scent if I keep on inhaling the same smell for some time. I always try to stay away from whatever which is fragrant strongly to prevent from continuous sneezing followed by a serious running nose the whole day Happy posting

However, that's not my main purpose. My aim is to use them to win games and to win even more erasers from my friends.. lol =D

My daughter collects novelty erasers and has been doing so for a couple of years. She has some really cute ones which she never uses of course! I am not sure she smells them though; I must take a whiff and see...I think she may have scented ones in her collection...

i used to loving having different erasers, different shapes and sizes, different colours and some even had a smell all of there own. I had a load of these when at school. I think that my favourite one was an eraser that was shaped like a small pencil, it was red and it actually did smell of strawberries, i loved it. I think i only have about 2 erasers now at home and i don't really even use them. They will come in handy though when my son goes to school in a couple of years. Atleast he will then be able to make use of them rather than me having them just stuck at the bottom of a drawer.

Yes, there are a lot of scented erasers. They were done that way to entice the children to buy them. So i guess, you are still very young at heart, that why you have the penchant of collecting them. Anyway, they are cheap and it wouldn't be a luxury buying them once in a while. Just make sure you don't eat then ha? LOL
