I guess I got yet another virus.. But after I saved all my documents it would not read the recovery disk so I could clean it and use it once again to start all over! That made me mad so I just got online and ordered a new computer! I hope the anti-virus I ordered with it will help keep it running for a couple of years. I have to make more money now to pay for the computer!! Any reason why my computer won't recognize the recovery disk? Is it like only good for three times or something?

On my vista emachine my mom had downloaded a stubborn screensaver that wouldn't come off my computer and I went in the screen appearance pages to see if I could get it off, and I did, cause when the computer goes on monitor mold when you're away from the computer the screen saver would always get stuck and we will have to turn the computer off by the button and I felt like this was very risky so yeah I would go get my computer checked at a computer place that has a good reputation on fixing the hard drive and other problems you may have.

It sounds like it was messed up! I love computers when they work properly! But when they don't I am kinda stuck!

macdingolinger,
I believe this reading error does not have anything to do with your recovery disk. I think you need to realize that many manufacturers are omitting copies of product CDs in favor of the single recovery system to prevent unauthorized distribution of preloaded software, as the recovery media is usually locked to the computer it came with.
This complicates clean installation with a fresh copy of the operating system, as to perform such actions and get a setup close to the recovery disc's result, they would need to purchase new licenses for any software which came bundled with their system, just so that they could obtain an installation disc for that software, and would also have to download the drivers for their computer's components manually.
In addition, if the hardware configuration of the system changes, drivers and support for the additional hardware changes will not be on the recovery image, requiring users to reinstall their drivers.
From what you had posted, I wonder if you had used a boot disk to boot the system, before reinstalling the necessary software from the original installation media. Because, you need to do this before the computer could read and reinstall from your recovery disk.
Anyway, since you've got yourself a new computer I hope you would consider using disk imaging software such as Mondo Rescue or Acronis True Image to create a bootable recovery CD containing an image of the machine in the desired initial state.
I really encourage you to check them out and if you have any questions check it out with your local dealer.
Take care and compliments of the season.

Thanks for the info! I certainly want to find the right way to create a recovery disc. I have used the disk for my laptop two or three times to clean it and reboot to start all over. This time it just wouldn't even read it... but I (as you can tell) don't really know much about the particulars!
