Whats the Most Environmentally Friendly Form of Transportation?

Of course it would have to be walking but besides that I would probably say high-speed railing. I'm not exactly sure how much less polluting it is compared to other forms of transportation but from what I remember its much less. I currently don't have high-speed railing where I live. My town is probably too small to even get access to it as of currently. I think the rest of the U.S. would be better of to have more of them to lessen oil dependency. As of right now gas prices are spiking probably along with the rest of the world.

I will jump on the bicycle wagon. If you plan it correctly a bike a=can handle most of your transportation needs

Nothing can beat the horse and buggy for friendliness to the environment. The energy to pull the carriage is derived from grass and water, and the emissions from the horse goes back into the soil to grow food for both animals and people. The transition from walking, to horse powered carriage was probably the greatest advance in transportation ever made!

I didn't think of that i guess because i'm too young and didn't grow up with horses and carriages. i mean who did that's still alive, lol. Unless someone is amos or find it convenient for their situation. it may be old school but still its definitely one of the top ways to be an environmentally friendly source of transportation.

a bicycle and for mass transport a mag lev train you can also count cars that run on water or an electric car no emissions of course you'd have to power it through something that is also environmentally friendly like a windmill or perhaps a solar panel

you suggested a good combination of power sources. yes, i think relying on a mixture of power sources instead of just one is much better then relying on few. its a great option and really should be the way of the future more and more.

Bicycles are great! Environmentally friendly and human friendly as well. While riding your bike, your body has it's exercise. :)

Well, it of course depends on how far you want to travel. Bicycle is the best form of transportation, to the envionment and yourself's heathy.

yeah that' true but bicycles will only take me or anybody else so far in my state as there is lots of mountains in my state of Tennessee.

Depends on how far you want to travel and how fast I suppose. For shortish distances I'd say a pedal cycle. For longer distances an electric car. (ignoring the environmental cost of building and scrapping it that is). Then again, the sailing cargo ship is pretty environmentally friendly and a form of transportation that may yet come back as oil becomes scarcer and more expensive.

The answer that came to my mind was, pedal cycle. It requires energy but not the kind dependent on resources. If you are used to it, you can go longer distances too. But then I don't travel a lot. Don't know much about high-speed rail...ing Hope it's less polluting

Here in the Philippines we have what we call a pedicab. It is a bicycle attached with a sidecar or a carriage where they can carry some passengers. It is definitely an environmentally friendly form of vehicle plus it gave some people a source of living. Not all cities here do have an access to MRT or LRT these are rail trains. These are only present in the capital of the country. But during the day it can carry almost a million of passengers so it helped greatly, leave alone the traffic. The modes of transportation in other areas are jeepneys, buses, taxi and tricycles. Tricycles are similar to pedicabs, but, instead of bicycle it is motored by a motorcycle. Definitely it not good for the environment. How I wish though that electric cars wouldn't be too expensive for the Filipinos. However, as of the moment the price of it is really hight. Europeans couldn't even afford it how much more for us.

yes, the electric are certainly too expensive right now. Its not the price of the eletric cars as much as the batteries though which are more of a problem. the huge lithium batteries in electric cars are very expensive to replace. To replace a lithium battery in an electric car costs around $3,000. If the battery costs could be lowered greatly then electric cars would be a great option but still a fuel source should be built into all electric cars for more reliability.

For me, a water fuel car is best as Most Environmentally Friendly Form of Transportation. It was already invented and introduced to the market last 2005 or 2006 I think but it was not approved and they did not make it available in the market for some economic issue.

why not just use crap as a fuel. there's plenty of it and no one wants it being dumped and spreading diseases. i think its full of methane.

Since walking is not questioned I would say bicycling. No gas just a lot of effort and well you get exercise too.

true, but its not dependable for longer distances.

You could use the bicycle of course. It is very convenient especially with a short destination. It helps you exercise as well. It makes your strength, stamina and heart become stronger. If we will travel in a quite longer distance, we could use horses. Horses could tires but can regain their energy by eating and drinking. We don't have to use non renewable resource like the gasoline and the diesel if we used to ride on horses.

why not just use crap as a fuel? its not renewable but it will always be around. that's the answer to the fuel problem. the people in charge don't want to use it on a mass scale though because they can't make money from it.

I think it would be the bicycle. It does not use any gas or electricity for it to be used. Besides, it can be used as a form of exercise. You can even travel great distances with a bike.

I think it would be a bicycle. Well it really depends on your destination, but if you are going about 2-3 blocks away from home it is best to use a smoke free and eco friendly means of transpo like bicycles :)
