I did some research on those high - rate online banking, and finally I selected Ingdirect, as so many people putting up some good words about this online bank. It is FDIC insured, and it is not some sort scam like other people might think of what it is. Ingdirect banking has been on the market for while, and instead of putting my money into stock, I rather do a traditional way, save those money and earn a puny amount of interest from it. Other online bank like smartypig, and ever bank might want me to deposit a certain amount of money to start an account, which always over $1,000. I just want to start something small, and build it gradually toward my goal. It is my way of saving. Has anyone use Ing direct?

I have two savings accounts with them and I love them. If they had more local branches so I could easily deposit my paychecks, I'd close my Wells Fargo checking account and open one with ING. Unfortunately, and through no fault of theirs, the interest rate on my savings accounts has dropped drastically from what it was when I opened them. It's an economy problem but when I opened my accounts I think I was earning 5.3% and now it's only 1.2% :(
