I have 2 sucker fish in my tank with my goldfish as they are too small to be in with my red devil cichlid & my hubby went into the kitchen the other night & found the sucker fish on the floor...we thought it was dead so I picked it up & held it in my hand while putting it back in the tank...it swam away straight up...have you evr had a fish that liked to try to commit suicide?

My grandmother had a fish that kept ramming itself in to the Glass. it first would swim around the tank around the glass and then bam it was into the glass.

Wow, I have never had a fish keep ramming itself into the side of the tank before.

Yea it was funny to see that happen i think it was getting harassed by the shark that was in the tank.

I don't have a sucker fish, but I have watched my sister's sucker fish swim rather quickly and energetically...maybe your fish accident swam to hard and jumped out of the tank by mistake. Does the tank have a lid? I've only had Beta fish, but none of them have ever gotten out of the tank.

I have bettas too...love them...the tank doesn't have a lid on it as I haven't made anything for it....I think you could be right about the swimming too fast bit.

Oh, I have to have lids on my betta tanks or my cats would eat my fish! lol Betta's are so cool! I love having them. I've had up to 4 at once, now I just have one. I buy the bettas that are less colorful and 'attractive' because I figure those are the ones no one else will buy lol. So right now I have a black or dark grey one that I've named, Jrakeo. lol

Is it possible he was chased out of the tank? If that's the case it could be a possible homicide & you put him back in with his attempted murderers.

Oh! Poor little fish. I don't have fish, but only cause I have four indoor and three outdoor cats and they would have a quick snack of my fish. Is it possible that he was leaping toward a light source? I'm not sure why fish do the things they do. Fish are a mystery to me. Cats are another story. Whenever my cats act up and zip around the house like maniacs, I know what they are saying. "Mommy! Clean my litter box!"

I'm not sure as it was fairly dark...he was heading for the fridge - he could have been hungry maybe..The cats I grew up with also did things like that when we were in for bad weather too.

I use to have a Gold Fish who would do that all the time, not quite sure why but every time my tank lid was open if he had a chance where your back was turned he would jump out. This went on for quite some time until he finally got sick due to unrelated circumstances in the tank he was in and he along with several other fish passed away.

Maybe the goldfish knew that the illness was going around & didn't want to get sick lol...that is sad though.

Unfortunately he didn't leave a note as I had made my daughter clean up her crayons & paper earlier.
