Cosmetic surgery is becoming more popular and necessity to celebrities. Since you must have a lot of money before you can undergo cosmetic surgery so it's only for rich people. Though there are a lot benefits you can get from cosmetic surgery, but a lot of risk also involve. Personally if time will come that I can afford it I don't plan to undergo such cosmetic surgery in the future because I'm afraid the risk that I can get from it. People have to mature and grow old, that's the fact. How about you? what's your opinion regarding this issue? What are the pros and cons of undergoing cosmetic surgery?

For me personally, i'll never make one even if i have the billions. Plastic surgery concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function. Other than i suppose it will be an obsession, nothing more. Let's take michael Jackson for example, he started by shaping his nose, than another one to shape his nose, & another...till he started thinking of changing his skin color. Cosmetic surgery is an obsession that will eat you alive, just take a look at some of those celebrities who made lots of surgeries till they become more like a barby doll than a human sexy woman. Am with the correction or restoration of form and function of some organs that seriously need Plastic surgery intervention, other than that, am not really a fun of Plastic surgery.

I agree with you, its ideal for restoration of burned part of the skin for example and not for changing appearance God gave us.

I guess that for some people cosmetic surgery could give them a boost in confidence intially, but I believe that all confidence comes from within and that cosmetic surgery is only a temporary fix. I also think that when people seek happiness from some external source, such as surgery, it isn't really going to permanent because happiness is inner contentment. If we are not content with ourselves, we need to look inside our minds, to find out what's going wrong and why we have such a down on ourselves. Perhaps because I have worked for the past 30 years or so as a therapist, my opinion is biased, but I have never seen anybody who has found peace of mind on a permanent basis through the use of the surgeon's knife. _Derek

a great thought from you, I agree nothing in this world can give us permanent happiness if we will consider anything money can buy.

The pros are obviously better looks after having it and i can't think of anything else. The cons of it is they say it's addictive, it costs way too much, it could cause problems physically. I can think of more cons than pros as it seems. There might be other pros but i really can't come up with anything. Surgery isn't necessary if you're not really looking for all people to like you but if you're a celebrity or planning to be one and you're not looking too savvy, you might wanna consider having one. Just make sure you have enough money and you'll not be addicted to it.

I don't think people should undergo this process too much. they should just be contented with what God gave them and stop altering themselves. The risk is too great, I have seen in the news some cosmetic surgeries that harmed the patients- like swelling, illness and stuff.

Yes, more and more people are undergoing cosmetic surgeries these days. I am not really against it but I think it's not a god practice and people should just be content with how they look. I've seen some hollywood actors undergo too much of those and they look horrible now.

Lot of cosmetic surgeries are now happening. But I feel sometimes they are risky. So I think if any one really doesn't require it, should not go for it. My mother recently had a surgery (Knee replacement) which is also considered as a cosmetic surgery. We had to go for it, because my mother was not able to walk at all. Then at last the doctor instructed us to go for it. Now my mother is just fine!! But there is risk. The doctor has already told that there is no guarantee how it will work after 15 years. And if something happens at that time, then nothing can be operated on that!!! So we are on risk..but still happy bcoz we can see my mother's smile at least.
