should we drink water before,during or after a meal ?

i heard diverse opinions about drinking water during a meal .Some say drinking water during a meal helps for better digestion ,while some say that drinking water after a meal is not good.Some again say to drink before a meal.I wonder what's right. Anyone with correct information or want to add his/her perspective please comment your thoughts and what do you do.

according to medical science of ancient India water should be taken before meal and should not be taken immediately after meal. water should be taken after 1/2 hour of meal.if you feel problem in taking meal then you can take water between meal if necessary.

this is exactly what doctors recommend. drink some water before the meal and do not drink water immediately after the meal. so far i've been following this.

for me you can drink water at anytime. alot of people like to drink it during a meal. i dont think there is a right or wrong time

Hi dear. Drinking water before meal is very useful and one should drink water before meal. And if you have forgotten drinking water before you can drink in between the meal. But should not drink after the meal. Because it causes a lot of digestive problems. When you Drink water before meal it helps to digest food and its batter, And if you drink in the middle of meal its also effective but not as much as first one. But when you drink water after meal it resists the movement of food in stomach. It upsets stomach and prevent food to digest properly. You can drink water after 30min or 45min after eating the food. Take care of it. You can keep your belly smart to take care of this. Always take care. And it is proved by the Science. Hope you will understand what i want to say.

I believe that water is very important in our body we need to drink plenty of water not just 8 glasses of water everyday it really help our body clean and well function.we can escape other drinks but water?we cant live without water in our life.

You should try taking water before and during. I heard that drinking water after a meal is bad for you in some ways. And during is good for digestion, like you mentioned above. But yes it is best to take before and during.

If you feel you like to drink water before meal then drink why not.. THe proper digestion is depend on food you ate. If it is solid and hard then you didn't chew properly possible you it hard to digest. And if you ate soft foods then good very easy to digest. Drinking water is not the big issue when to drink before or after. As long a you feel like to drink then go but a small amount so you can eat more. That is what i always do.

I heard if you drink a glass of water with and even before your meal you will feel fuller faster, and I think water is good for us at any time I never heard before that is was bad for us to have water after a meal though. All I know is water is good for us and I have heard of drinking too much of it will make you sick ? Well have a good day!

I've never heard that water is bad for you after a meal. I know if you drink it before supposedly you won't be as likely to overeat.. but I don't know that it is true. I can't see that water is bad for you any time! As a general rule we don't get enough!

drinking water during meal is not good as it dilutes the food. The doctor usually say that we should drink water at least 30 minutes after food. Also we should not go to sleep immediately after having food. Happy new year.

Hello RitWick, i know from my grand mother that drinking water doesn't have to be during the meal. I don't know why is so, just know that as suggestion from the old people. I have never read about it, it was never so interesting for me to know why i don't have to drink water during my eating. But I as a person who eats lots of salty and sour food i can tell you that every meal is mixed with water for me - i mean i drink water when i eat. I just can't handle the taste of everything, this is why i refresh my taste in my mouth and feel better.

hi, for me, i think yes, water is more good than the others, drinking water before eating could help our stomach to clean, and after drinking water after eating could help our stomach to make smooth the food we eat.

i heard taht drinking water before meal is good becausr our digestive system starts to work before meal so it is easyto digest the food but after meal, drinking water is not good.
