Happiness seems to have become a rare commodity now-a-days in the midst of all the hustle and bustle that characterizes modern life. We have cocooned ourselves in the cosy comforts coming from the constant use of different kinds of gadgets all purport to make us happy. Now the question is: Do these artificial things give us real happiness? Even the mighty useful computer does not seem to make us happy. I have come across a number of my friends sitting in front of their PC for hours together segregated from real life. I often find them depressed all because of their dependence on modern gadgets. Why can't we live a more meaningful life staying close to nature?

I agree with you. Happiness may be present but we don't see it! Using a computer and making friends online is all very well except for one thing - no smile! Smile at a stranger today, and you feel good as well.

As you have pointed out correctly happiness is nothing but a mere state of mind; it is only felt not seen. Online activities do give us pleasure. However, the human touch is sadly missing.

Happiness can be seen. Not through gadgets, but through nature, people. I feel happy whenever I look at my family how close we are. Even though our life is dependent on technology, our relationship isn't. Family walks and dinners, simple thing, yet happiness manifest. Wish you would reach out to real people too besides the virtual ones. I have nothing against virtual friends. Some are real helpful, and in a small, we become a little thankful, a little happy too.

With all our latitude of expression, it is possible to say that happiness can be seen in sights which are capable of generating happiness - the sights you have cited as samples. Staying away from things artificial and establishing communion with nature and real life do generate lasting happiness.

Life is short,so we need to learn how to cherish our life and be happy. We should try our best to live a happy life and then do what we like to do.It is amazing when we find that we did something that we really appreciated.Your mood controled by you,so you just need to tell yourself that you are happy, life is just like a box of chocolate and what you should is to cherish it and be a happy person.

Yes, life is a sweet dream - we have to cherish the good memories. Life is akin to a box of chocolates which we have to relish experiencing it.

It is really sad that modern technology gadgets has so much control over people as compose to the past. Life use to be about settings such as food goods, a house with a husband and wife with kids, you know just your regular everyday living. Today its like a keep up with technology. Its just another thing that have changed history. We might as well get over it cause its just the way of how the world has changed.

Youngsters in general do not feel the difference as they are born with the use of technology in their day-to-day lives. But the parents of the younger generation find it difficult to get used to all the things technology has brought in. What cannot be cured must be endured, so goes a saying. Therefore, the best option is to cope with them somehow or the other even if they do not live up to one's priorities and preferences.

I agree with you my friend. People have become so materialistic nowadays that they tend to be happier with technologies and just to stay updated with them. People forgets to appreciate less things. They got focused mainly on man's own creations. Real happiness does not come from material things, but from non-tangible things such as experiencing God, getting some more time to enjoy things that life has to offer and some more. Tangible things offer temporary happiness, it only comes to limited extent, not for a lifetime. Happy MyLotting my friend and see you around!

You are absolutely right dear friend. Materialism combined with ample spiritualistic leanings will do a lot of good to us all.

happiness is present inside us but we look for happiness outside, in material object, so if we see inside our heart or soul, we will be happy, be a happy life and happy new year.

It all depends on how we treat life. A positive outlook and a joyous attitude will go a long way in making us happy. Let us all be happy. May the New Year bless you with loads of happiness, friend.

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life. What we play is life, both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.

Trying to find out what exactly happiness is like dissecting a butterfly to find out the source of its beauty. Mysteries in life should remain mysteries and living life to the fullest extent sharing ideas with others with wholeheartedness and sympathy and treating everyone on equal footing will help us live a joyful life.

I am glad that i am not one of those people who derives happiness from electronic gadgets. To me, i'm most when i am with my family, enjoying the bonding time together. Be it simple TV watching or just at home doing our chores and at the end of it a delicious food to eat! Yes, i can get happiness from going online, but none compared to the happiness i get from being with my family.

yes we have increased our technology to become happy. but we have forgotten that happiness does not come from these non-living equipments but from sharing our views, gifts with each other.and we are also destroying nature witch is the source of many beautiful gifts and happiness. so try to be happy in communion with nature.

You are quite right. We have lost our happiness while seeking it through things detached from real life. Let us live in communion with nature. Real happiness does lie there.
