Car accidents on slippery roads

I live in Ohio and we frequently get bad weather in the winter time. I still don't understand why it is that people think they can go 50 or 60 miles an hour when there is ice on the roads. It is common sense that someone should slow down in these conditions because it will be slippery. Not long ago, several cars crashed into the new bridge that just opened locally and were cited because they were going too fast for the weather conditions. I also see cars going out with their windshield wipers on and no headlights. Just because you can see the other cars does not mean that they can see you. These are all in the driver safety handbook that a person gets before they get their license. Slow down and drive responsibly. You could save a life. It may even be your own.

I live here also and drive I75 to work each day. I like to count the cars in the ditch on the way in. I grew up driving in the mountains of Colorado so i try to be very careful on ice and snow.

Well said indeed. There are a lot of people out of the road who seem to think that it is okay to drive the same way when the roads are slick, then the roads are normal. It is just frustrating to see them have a cutter lack of common sense. I really do hope that some people really do wake up and see the problems but they likely won't because some people have gotten into their hand that nothing bad will ever happen to them. A deadly attitude to have for certain.

Some drivers will just never get it. Road conditions have to be considered at all times when you drive. Inclement weather is a hazard that should always to taken with care. It can only take a moment to change a life.

Yes, people in your place should really be careful in driving. Those are just some of the disadvantages of snow. Maybe they are in a hurry or something, but speeding can just take the to the hospital instead of their destination.

its the craze of young generation to drive with the speed. we can't help it. people who posses common sense and make sure they reach home safe after driving take proper measures. i think govt. should widen their eyes to protect these people by strictly acting on rules.

I live in Kansas and drivers are stupid here too. Things that we think would be common sense other people just don't get. A lot of people are to overconfident of their driving. Which I believe you never can be because you never know what other drivers are going to do. You have to always be prepared for everything. The weather adds extra reason to be careful. And some people just don't care. I am what you would probably call a paranoid driver. I am one of the slower ones on the road especially when it's snowing or raining. I like to have extra time if I need to stop. I have a little tiny honda I sure don't want to be in a highway accident. Maybe some people just don't think about the consequences. But they should because when you are on the road it's not just your own life that you endanger.

Oh gosh linda it seems that people today are not using their thinking caps while on the road. I too notice a great many so in a hurry to meet Kingdom, as they rush through the roads. If they killed themselves, I suppose this would be deserving, but unfortunately they kill other innocent as well. If only people arrived ten minutes late to their destination, but instead arrive a minute too early to heaven.
