Is it possible to live in the present now without losing the old?

As of 1/1/2011 i love all the new gadgets that surround us the simplicity of stuff and great safety ensured towards humans. But there are moments when i see the vast area around me enclosed by buildings, the continuous pollution, the never encroachment of nature, over crowdedness, i feel that i want to go back to the good old days. When my parents used be small they had lots of free area to roam about and play but now with children getting drawn to gaming and indoors, and land continually being conquered there is no space and peace. I wish we had the environment of the past but with the lifestyle of present. What do you say?

I think that we have to keep moving on as the past is gone and will never return. There were always problems and they only seem to be preferable because the human mind tends to look back on the good times and quickly forget the painful times. There is still some space out there - depends on what part of the world we are living in. We just need to aspire to work as best we can and get away from the crowds from time to time. But there again, there are some people who loved crowded places. I lived in a city for most of my life, and loved being amongst all the hustle and bustle, but I worked hard because I knew that once I started getting near to retirement there wouldn't be much around of me in the city, so I've moved out into a country village and it is just great! _Derek

Thank you very much for you comment. It has always been in my nature to look for alternatives in life and then we stop feeling as we cannot do anything about our circumstances. Happy New Year to you.. _Derek

What do I say? I say fantasy is better than reality but when reality kicks in it sucks.

We can't turn back the clock. Living in a polluted world is the price we have to pay for enjoying the new technologies that has changed our lifestyle dramatically. We have to move forward to keep pace with the latest technology and to accept that our space on earth is full of rubbish floating in the air. The human brains need to be upgraded to live in this modern world. The past is history and no longer relevant in today's world.
