I read in an article today that you can't make up for sleep so taking naps don't help apparently. I don't take naps myself, even though I'm dead tired in the morning. I always feel like the time taking naps could be used for better things. So do you guys take naps and how does it make you feel?

I don't take any naps. The only times when I might take a nap is when I'm really sick, or didn't get enough sleep, or something to that effect. Otherwise, I'm not really much of a person who likes to take naps.

I take naps now that I am keeping my 2 yr old niece. While the older kids are in school. I also have the option to be able to take a nap since I am a housewife. If I could not or did not lay down for a bit when I was really tired or when my head was hurting I would be miserable and be a miserable mother and wife. Living in such a humid climate my sinuses are always clogged and I have to lay back for a bit to get them to drain and my head to stop hurting. I do not think naps add to my quality of sleep but I do think they help me get through the day when I am just really tired or was up and down half the night with one of the kids.

All naps do to me is really succeed in keeping me up later. The only time I would really consider taking a nap is when I am sick. I do need all of the energy that I need during those times. Plus they say that rest is the best medicine. So that is about the only time that I justify taking a nap. Normally, it really makes no different. I just wake up about a half of an hour later tired, groggy, and just as irritated as I would be without one.

Hi there cottenkendi!!I actually don't take naps often even if I have a spare time.I think going to sleep is better than taking a nap,it is becoz every time I take a nap here in my room or in the office whenever I have to wake up it leaves with a feeling of dissatisfaction. And sometimes it even coz me headache becoz I am forcing myself to wake up. Nowadays I can't really find a decent time to take a nap coz I am currently working. And whenever my boss isn't around the office I still tried to stay awake and do something that will prevent me from feeling sleepy. It would really be embarrassing if someone caught me taking a nap so I really always make myself alert in the office besides I can sleep at our house when I have the chance to go home.

Do you set an alarm? I worry that if I fell asleep in the middle of the day I would sleep for several hours and not be able to fall asleep at bedtime.

I don't normally take naps. I agree they're a waste of time, and I'm usually even more tired after I took one. If a had a tiering day, I just go to bed earlier. And if a mange to sleep for 7-8 hours, I'll be fresh as a daisy the next day.

i do... but not everyday... i do it when i am really tired and have lack of sleep the night before... otherwise, i won't take a nap as you say it is a waste of time... and since i am still young, i want to use my time for better and more constructive things to do... take care and have a nice day...

I rarely take any naps even during weekend or day off unless if I feel really tired or unwell. Taking naps are useful for our body as this would allow cells inside our body to regenerate and becoming stronger, making our body feel fresh when we wake up and ready to do things. Our body is not a robot so regardless how old we are we still need to take naps whenever it is possible.

I have never been a big naptaker. i always could find sometrhing else to do with my time other than napping. Some people do need that afternoon to energie them again. i am just not one of those people.

I prefer not to nap. Because I might feel dizzy afterwards and headache.

I don't normally take naps because, like you I feel there are usually other things that I could be doing. Occasionly at the end of a long weekend I will fall asleep watching sports. I usually feel refreshed afterwards.
