I've tried absinth once in my life, when a friend brought back a bottle from overseas, to the US.
I've had it as a swig from the bottle (which was a big mistake)
I've had it with a sugarcube, and I've had it watered down.
Is there a "right" way to drink this drink?

Read about it here:
http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/absinthe.html
It is tincture of wormwood, basically, but with other herbs added. Wormwood is a bitter herb which is supposed to contain an hallucinogenic.
Look up absinthe anywhere online and chances are a reference to thujone won’t be far behind. One internet forum got so tired of constant questions about it that a word filter changes the word "thujone" into the image of a pork-chop whenever it is typed. It has been called the active chemical in absinthe, a dangerous neurotoxin, and a hallucinogen, but only recently have we seen through its distorted past to get a full picture of thujone and its role in absinthe.

the hallucine properties are pretty interesting i might add... can't really describe it other than being perfectly sane ... but with no motor skills ...
i ended up talking all night to my friends, and playing the ps2, but when i tried to get up and walk ... wow. that was hard.
