Should you sledge at Tendulkar ?

It is over no 57 & Steyn is trying to rattle Tendulkar with quite a few words. Past experiences have suggested that Sledging makes Tendulkar even more determined. Do you think Steyn is doing a right thing ? Or will get a different result because he is the No:1 bowler in the world ?

Many teams have suffered by sledging at Tendulkar. In fact, most great players who have played against Sachin say that they keep it all quiet when the maestro plays as if they sledge he only replies with more and more runs. In fact, even Steyn was sledging at Bhajji more or less. Of course, he had a word or two with Sachin, but he was more involved with Bhajji. Cheers! Ram

yes ! new bowlers learn quickly not to sledge at Tendulkar. But series is so fierce that both teams will try anything to get an upper hand

Ha ha ha ha Sledging "God" means asking for the end of your international career. All these international bowlers have grown up watching him smashing great bowlers. They won't dare to Sledge Sachin. Everyone knows what happened to "great" Pakistani bowlers after 2003 world cup. Everyone scores century, however, when "God" is angry and he even scores 98 runs, it might be sufficient to end your international career. Steyn has talent and he knows his limits. This poor guy will never try to cross the line and if he does, we will see the history repeating itself.

Must have learned his lessons by now. IT will interesting to see them face off in world cup in docile pitches.

It is not only Sachin but most of the great players let their game skills answer sleging. I remember that Sunil Gawaskar would never listen to what the bowlers would say to him. He had faced this problem with almost all the teams of the world because in his days he was the biggest obstacle against the victory of the opponents of Indian team. We have enven one more example of Yuvi. His six hits of over of English bowler was again the result of sleging only.

Ah ! I remember the famous Gavaskar walk towards the square leg umpire every time a bowler tried to say something to him. Thanks for reminding me of Yuvi's 6 sixes too. Freddie should have felt like cutting his tongue. well said my friend.

I am sure such sludging will have no effect on Sachin Tendulkar. He is master blaster and he is playing cricket for the past 21 years.Within this period he will be more susceptible to these kinds of sledging especially from the Australians,West Indians,South Africans etc and still have no effect with these. Not even Dale Steyn but any bowler from all over the world can't make Sachin's concentration out of focus.

I remember Tendulkar having a special liking for bowlers who sledge at him. he used to remember these bowlers & hit them all over the park. with experience has mellowed down & i think sledging makes him much more determined now-a-days.

Sachin is a cool cricketer who does not respond to any verbal sledging by his opponents but the experience has shown that he does not forget that and the baller or the team engaged in such acts has to pay for it as his bat does all the talking.

i dont think one really needs to sledge at tendulkar as he has enough experience to tackle all these things.i never seen many bowlers trying to go at him.steyn was trying to poke at him in this inning but i dont think tendulkar really cares about all these thinks as he knows how to handle them.about steyn definitely he was trying to show that he is no.1 bowler throughout the series and he has been rewarded for his aggression.and these things really adds humor and fun into the game.i just love watching it.:)

I guess Steyn was frustrated at his lack of success despite bowling beautifully & was trying the last trick in his bag against Tendulkar.

Hi.. Actually i am late for this discussion .. But still i would like to say that sledging against Tendulkar is like waste of time. He always ignored such kind of things. I mean even during sledging Sachin don't used to see that players face. Means He really don't care about that.
