Do they seem to become a magnet to you when you are on the phone or having a conversation with company?
My little girl does and it drives me nuts

Yes, and did you notice that they can hear things from far away that you don't want them to hear but when you are talking directly to them, they don't seem to hear you.lol.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. When you call them, it's always "Wait a minute", but if you are doing something, they are right there under you.

Oh my gosh, yes!!
All can be fine and dandy, quiet in the house. The moment I pick up the phone, my daughter runs for me and starts shrieking that she wants to talk. The commotion then alerts my 19 month old and he gets involved in the whole ordeal.
My friends think I'm nuts. I don't even bother calling some anymore, cause I can never get a word in! I have to hang up and scold the kids.
