Headaches during lucid dreams?

I don't get it because I've never heard of qnaone having it, but I often get headaches during lucid dreams and even after waking up. It's so bad it scares me to go into lucid dreaming again. Sometimes I feel a huge reassure. Sometimes I panic and try to snap out of the dream and then my head starts to hurt. Some people told me I'm imagining the pain in dreams but I don't think that's true because I can feel it even after I wake up. How to get rid of this?

Hmmm. I don't think I've ever had a lucid dream before. . . .most of my dreams are choppy and random, though even without lucid dreams, the more intense ones do give me headaches and usually followed by a cold sweat. . .not pleasant. . .It gets a bit aggravating when it looks like something exciting is about to happen but the dream ends in a cliffhanger. . .

I am not sure how you would get rid of these kind of dreams. How do you feel before you go to bed? Are you well relaxed before you lay down? Do you go through a set routine; If so has it been broken? I would encourage you to relax your muscles especially in your neck and temple area at least a half hour before laying down. Once you are laying in bed concentrate on sleeping. Try not to watch tv. Try not to eat after three hours before bed time this will relax the stomach muscles better. There are many factors that can contribute to this; try to keep a daily journal. Happy dreams and think positive and serene.

I don't think you understand. I don't want to get rid of lucid dreams, I just want to get rid of the pain or figure out what this headache actually is because I've never heard any lucid dreamer experiencing it. Lucid dream is a dream where you're aware that you're dreaming and you can take partial or full control of the dream. This is how it's going for me. When I'm about to fall asleep, the moments before I can't stop my eyes from closing, I'm actively thinking that I'm about to dream and when I start dreaming I'm fully aware and I can control the dream. But sometimes something goes wrong, dream turns into horror and I'm not good enough to make it back to what I want. And then I panic and try to snap out of it. I usually concentrate on moving one finger and that wakes me up. The whole process of waking up is about 30 seconds of dream time unless it's false awakening or I end up in dream paralysis but all that time I feel like my head will explode and headache continues after I wake up and slowly fades away after 30 minutes. I know it's just a dream and nothing bad can happen to me but sometimes is just too uncomfortable that I have to force out of it.

I used to turn my alarm clock in the middle of the night to wake me so I can fall back to sleep, this time in order to lucid dream. That worked in 90% of time but I don't do this anymore. Now I have lucid dreams only from time to time when they naturally occur.

I wonder if that headache is harmful. It is uncomfortable but I wouldn't mind it that much but if it's harmful I'll have to stop with lucid dreaming.

I've had bad headaches during the night but I've never connected them to my lucid dreams, though now that I think about it they do seem to occur about the same time. I usually take an advil before bed to avoid getting a headache and that usually works out pretty well. I don't think that lucid dreaming is causing your headaches. Lucid dreaming doesn't affect your brain or your dream patterns at all.
