I just started a blog on blogspot.com. I'm really new to it and a little lost. I get how to write my blog. What I don't get is how to get more people to read it. Also I don't get how to find other people's blogs that I would want to follow. Isn't there like an area to search for blogs? How do I get my blog out more?

Content is the king. First thing you have to do is make good quality content to your blog and daily updated.
After this done you can promote your blog using facebook, twitter, and register it to blog directory like my bloglog and similar. Blogging is quiet difficult to get visitor, because no one know where you are.
And then visits another blogs, leave comment in there and do it regularly. I guarantee that they will visit you back. I already try this, and in my experience this drastically increasing traffict to my blog.

Congrats, i am using blogspot for a year already but just hooked to it a few couple of months. And happy that fellow bloggers are following my blog. Right now i have 124 followers. And my alexa ranking is also doing great. My blog has PR2 also, for me these things are my achievement and i'm happy with that.

i have several blogs in blogspot. at first, i put more contents to make my blogs attractive to online readers and search engines. then, i joined the blogcatalog where it puts my blogs in a community of bloggers. i also joined some fora and groups that have similar niches. and i also use the popular social networking sites to get my friends and others familiar with my blogs. for now, i keep on building my blogs for quality contents. it takes time and i am willing to take it. goodluck!

As far as getting more traffic to it, it's the same as any other site, just promote it. Promote it on your Mylot profile, Twitter, Facebook, and any other sites you promote your other links on.
As for finding other blogs.. you can do it through Blogger but you won't easily find your friends.. Blogger will just take you to various blogs and you can "follow" them if you like them. Or, if you know your friend has a blog, just ask for the link and follow them. Usually at the top of the page there is a "follow" button.

Yes, I've had a blog in blogspot.com for almost a year now and it's hard to put traffic to it. You just have to join bloggers.com and comment on their blogs too so they'll check out yours.. Ask your family to pass it around to- the address of your blog.
