What Are We Going To Do For Those People That Have "Crab Mentality"?

For all those Filipino people, is there any solution for a "crab mentality"? I am not offending anyone, but it seems that most people here in the Philippines have this "crab mentality" behavior. When Filipino created the first 3d animated movie, some Filipino people comment that Philippine animation should not be created because it is not that acceptable here in the Philippines, some say that foreign animated movies are better than Philippine animated movies and some say that Filipino artist is "Low End Artist" that is why the first 3d animated movie is not that good when released in a movie theater even if most Filipino who watch this first 3d animated movie said that they enjoyed it and they are proud that Filipino created a 1st 3d animated movie. What do you feel about this people who have this kind of behavior?

Okay, no offense to Filipinos (because I have cousins who are Filipino), but y'all need to get rid of that "Filipino Pride", and "It's all about us!" mentality, it's not healthy. I know other people in other countries who have this same mentality and it can hinder a group of people rather than help them. The Filipino people need to start being more open-minded to reality and to what is actually out there. If people want to start making animated movies or shows in the Philippines, I say go for it! There are several countries that make animated movies and shows, and some of them are a reflection of the countries personality and style. Look at French animation. It looks strange at first, but then you look at the French, and you look at the country, and the animation seems to reflect their personality. ("The Triplets of Belleville" are an example of true French animation). The same goes for Canada, England, Ireland, Spain, China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, and other countries that produce animation. To me, I think that people in Philippines need to give it a shot, give it a try.

Either way, they need to get rid of the "crab" and "pride" mentality and be open to what they can do and what is really out there. They can't compare their animation to the U.S. or Japan because it is going to be different. Again, look at other countries, no two animated shows are alike. They are all different.

I think for me interpretation of something they can call it their own. unfortunately, this something we supposed to own most people disgraced it because they compare it to US cartoons and ANime in Japan. that's why it didn't get much applause from the Pinoys. too bad, something that i hate too about my people. i think it's really a just crab mentally and not some pride.

@ LetranKnight25 For me, I see Filipinos that are 'colonial mentality'. Not all Filipinos, but most Filipinos think that way. They feel as if they do not live here in the Philippines. Filipinos are mostly influence by western ideas and lifestyle and this is the reason, why they have this 'colonial mentality'. I think, this is another reason, why it did not get much applause from the Pinoys when 1st 3d animated movie made by Filipinos were released.

if we will take seriously to those people who pull us down, then its our choice then letting them win. but why not ignore them and let live your life to your will and happiness. about the first 3d movie that was released, i think we should be proud. its our pride that people behind that movie have come out like those of the foreign animated films. it goes to show that we are not left behind in creating a one of a kind animated movie. ignore those who will say filipinos were LOW END ARTIST, besides its just a term which cant even cut us a wound. lets just be proud and take pride who let our country be proud of, manny pacquiao, charice, and many more filipinos who make our country be recognized world wide. :)

Well it is a way of thinking best described by the phrase "If I can't have it, neither should you." The metaphor refers to crabs in a bucket. Individually the crabs would easily escape from the bucket but they grab each other so eventually they wouldn't get off the bucket. In human behavior, some people would "pull down" or negate a person achieving success beyond others out of jealousy or competitive feelings.

Some people are just jealous of other people's success. But you should not generalize or just confine this bad trait to Filipinos because I have been to other countries, working and living for quite awhile, and I have seen the same traits and much worse. A lot of animations that became a hit success in USA and other countries were made in Philippines. We have a lot of talented Filipino artists and we should be proud of their accomplishments. Again, dont mind those losers whining and criticizing because this is just their way of saying they feel sad and empty for doing nothing.

I also believe that there are many talented Filipino artists here in the Philippines. I have watched on youtube.com that Filipinos are the one who animate 'one piece' from Japan. Japan hired Filipinos and Japan outsource their business here in the Philippines. That is a proof that we have many talented Filipino artists here in the Philippines.

sorry but im a filipino... i dont think that filipinos are "low end artists".. i can say to you that 1 animator in the anime NARUTO is a filipino.. charice is a PURE filipino.. manny pacquiao, the greatest pound for pound boxer that even floyd maywether jr., the undefeated, is also afraid to fight w/ him.. you know you can say that to us filipinos.. but try visiting the philippines.. and surely you will change that view of yours..

I love this 3d animation did by our beloved filipino's they did the great job for me because I really enjoy it even I am not a kid anymore I still enjoy it and I really support it as in to the highest level because It is the first filipino 3D animation.! wow! really great.. yes, I heard it from others that this movie wasn't that good it is like trying hard for filipino doing animation but I did not listen to them instead, I watch it my own to prove to myself if that was true. And you know what it really hurt me when others filipino said that this movie is not good at all. You think that they are filipino instead of supporting and amaze to what filipino did they look so you know. And perhaps if they won't like it at all just don't tell it to other because other might discourage to watch the movie.

Me too. I was really hurt every time I accidentally read it on the internet some of the negative comments about the 1st 3d animated movie. They do not know how to give positive critics.

Well, I can say that "crab mentality" is innate in the Philippines. You cannot just take it away from them because it is a culture thing. But I believe in the talent of Filipinos when they are in other countries. We are recognized for the talents despite criticisms.

The only solution for crab mentality is on the person itself,if he/she realizes that what he/she is doing is bad, then he will change that behavior.THis is a problem of my gf since she have classmates who always trying to pull her down because my girl is intelligent enough for them :-p

Oh. May be her classmates are envious with your girlfriend. Your girlfriend have this 'something' that they do not have and may be the 'positive points' that they do not have is intelligent.

I don't think it's just Filipinos who have " crab mentality ",we only say Filipinos have crab mentality because we have an exact term for it, I don't even believe that jealousy or bringing other people down has got to do with race but in a way part of human nature or has something to do with your up bringing and how you relate and interact with other people, we call it crab mentality while other countries would call it " the green eyed monster", so on and so forth, why don't we just call this people crabby patties and stop saying Filipino crab mentality as if it is only us who has it

"TERMINATE" perhaps is the right thing to do. Job termination, or don't give business opportunities to such kind of people. You have to realize that king crabs in Alaska are found in deep sea waters and difficult to catch and are expensive for diner. In this country of 7,200 islands with a 90M population, 85% are crabs found roaming around the Islands and only about 5% or even less crab hunters. If you happen to stay or live in any of these Islands, stay home and enjoy life but is you are out roaming around "Keep Your Mouth Shut" and just enjoy the scenery of the amazing crabs or they will BITE you. In short, you make great things in life outside this country and the whole world respect your achievement, but the crabs won't unless you are also like one of them "CRABS" good in copy cut and be famous.
