Well , IE starts in 3 seconds whereas Opera starts in a second . But thats not happening with Firefox . Wow, its taking more than 30 grand seconds just to start up and show the home page and start responding . But I have no other choice . I have all my pages , passwords , bookmarks and all setting optimized for Firefox . Now I can't just away shift to another browser . IE isn't good enough and Opera doesn't render all pages as it is . So I am left with no other option other than using Firefox waiting for more than 30 seconds after commanding to open it . Do you face such a problem with Firefox ?? What can be done about it ??

I am using firefox and I have no problem with the speed. What I hate about firefox is it often crashes and a message will appear 'not responding'. I think the add-ons in firefox slow it down. Try disabling the add-ons and see whether the speed improve.

I agree with you about the add ons. As for me, I don't put any add-ons. All I need is the browser, not the add-ons.

Well, in some way It does. Firefox is a high memory-using browser, so It takes a bit more to start up and in general when it's opened. Plus, the add-ons will slow that down even more. There's not so much you can do about that... maybe you could use little or no add-ons, but it will still remain heavier to load on the memory than Internet Explorer and Chrome. Despite all this, I think It's the most efficient browser we have today, I hope that this flaws get solved in the next version, the v4, to have an even more catching browsing experience. If you don't have an old computer or something, Firefox is the choice! :)

I have been using Firefox for nearly a year without any problem. As the problem u mentioned ,yeah,I admit it is a little slower on the condition that too many addons are installed. On the whole ,I think it is a pretty good browser for its stability, safty and above all the consideration for personan preference. Maybe on one hand, u can update yr hardware or u should disable some unnecessary addons ,by the way, there is one plug I noticed that is able to elevate its start speed--a paradox,umm.......haha~

you are wrong firefox is the fastest browser indeed. what everybody does is that you guys install unwanted tool bars. i recommend not to install any toolbar. Every week keep clearing cookies, histories etc. This is applicable to all the browsers. Even if you store many bookmarks also it happens. Even if you are using many addons. It slows down. I am using firefox for 5 years i have not experienced like that. follow this tips and revert back. Sure it will work fine.

Hmmm, it sounds like you gave FireFox a bunch of 'programs to run' (settings, etc.) and--as inefficient as it sounds--FireFox has to run all those programs AS WELL AS your browsing. And--the way you're describing it--it sounds like the browser runs better because of that. I'm a beta-tester' of the eighth version of FireFox 4.0, and I'll pass along your concern ... maybe have Mozilla explain the problem with a slogan at the tops of all their sites, "The Browser that Pre-Browses YOU!" or something. But for now, maybe you should delete everything on your computer that you don't need.

I use Flock instead of Firefox...its based on the FireFox architecture, but does well where Firefox goes wrong: loading times. I usually dont have to wait more than about 5 seconds for Flock to start. I gave up with using Firefox for the same reason, and went to Flock instead.

I always use Firefox and I don't have any problems with it. I am not sure why you are having this problem. I absolutely hate IE. Now that is what slows my computer down. I haven't had much experience with Opera.

Yep same stuff here. My computer is rather slow so I use chrome. I did use firefox for a while but it makes things so slow. Watching a video was a nightmare but now with chrome I can do everything without too many problems. Even creating videos with camtasia was suddenly possible wheras with firefox my computer would crash.
