What did Jesus meant by saying, "Love your neighbor?" Who is your neighbor?

Many people get confused on this. Some people think of neighbors as someone who lives near us, but Jesus meant differently.

When Jesus talk about Love Your Neighbour, it doesn't really meant it just our neighbours. Christians teach us to love everybody including our enemy. But why neighbours? We look at logically thinking. We first need to love those who are near to us first. Of course we all love our own family. but neighbours are sometimes is not family related to us. And it is difficult to like them sometimes. We see them everyday but yet we find it hard to like them. It seems that the gate between our home has become barrier to us. Strange but true, it seems it is more difficult to love our neighbours compares to someone who live futher from us. There is always dissatisfaction between neighbours. In my view, that is why Jesus more focus in our neighbours and enemy. don't make the gates become our barriers but let us understand our neighbours more and learn to love them.

Okay. We must first learn to love ourselves before we can love our neighbors. When we truly learn to love our neighbors, it makes the world a better place and we are doing what God want us to do. Our actions speaks louder than words. Loving our neighbors is helping anyone that we encounter that needs help and if we are not able to help them, we are to pray for them.

Jesus sure did mean it differently. This is the ultimate "Golden Rule." Jesus was telling us to be selfless, to love and treat everyone else just as we want to be loved and treated. Just think how much better a place the world would be if more people would honestly consider other people's feelings, if we would truly learn to love.

I'm glad you mentioned that about if we would truly learn to love, because I've heard people say, "Love your friends and hate your enemies." Matthew 5:44 says, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. God is love.
