I think one can learn anything at any age as long as one wills it. I've heard of 70 year old man learning to play the violin at that age! All it takes is willingness. Yes, there are lots of things that can be learned online. Go ahead, use the myLot search engine and search!

I just took a look at your profile and saw you're age. I'm just a year younger. Hey, that's not old! I, too, started to take up violin just last year, and I've proven to my self that anything can be learned at any age. I learned to play the guitar at a young age (but mostly just rhythmic strumming, not so much on plucking) and while I was a faster learner then, the fact is, I can still learn how to play musical instruments now! Here's to us!

Then go get a guitar and trade in your excuses. Yes there are videos, however it's best to have some basic knowledge of notes and chords to best utilize the videos. Some videos are beginner proof and detailed enough for anyone.

4 songs is a start! Don't give up. There are many songs that use the same chords in different patterns.

I agree with everybody. You're never too old to learn anything. Especially, with learning how to play an instrument or music in general. But i would suggest for you to get an instructor and not try to self study online. Though anyone can learn almost anything by themselves online nowadays, it's not a fast way to learn the guitar, unlike if you have someone there guiding you. Since as of now you're more interested in just playing a specific song. You can learn that song right away with an instructor. When I teach beginners I always ask them what song or songs they want to play and just teach them how to play the song without teaching them the basics... YET. Learning the basic guitar theory and technique can be very boring, unless you have something to motivate you like knowing how to play a song. Borrow a guitar and get an instructor. Doesn't have to be a pro. It can just be someone who can play the guitar decently.

Nope, you will never get too old to learn new stuff. About learning guitar, it is so easy. It didn't take long to learn to play. You just need to taske your time learn with your own pace. My suggestion, you learn like an hour a day. That should be enough. The more time you spend the faster you learn. There is a lot of books sold about learning to play guitar. Or you can just find it on the net. Try to learn th chords first. Like you who wants to play Now and Forever, try to search the chords or tabs for that song on the net, and learn the chord and play it everyday until you get used of it already and then you can move to the other songs. It easy trust me. it just take time and effort to get started. Good luck.

You are never too old to learn to play the guitar! My father didn't start learning the guitar until he was over 50! My grandfather didn't start playing until he was over 60! LOL I started a little before I was 30, which is my current age. Buy a guitar and get started, there are many places to learn for free.

You are not old. There are many sites to learn strumming. Youtube should be able to start you off since so many videos on strumming. Yes, stick to strumming until you get to hum and sing along with the songs... then if you are adventurous, try plucking or fingerstyle. Extracting melody from the songs is so much more exciting for me. I don't play well too, but I am not a performer. I just play to enjoy. If you expect too much when you start, you may give up. Just play and enjoy, even if the whole world tells you off. Slowly the rhythm will come, so will the callouses on the fingertips. After a while, your fingertips will be strong enough...or numb enough for you to enjoy. Enjoy!...When you are more adventurous and want to try fingerstyle, then I can point you to 2 sites where you can get free tabs. Those are not my sites, but I frequent them often. Wishing you success.
