Today a neighbors 5 year young son died of choking due to chewing gum, he was making bubbles from this by blowing out and in, it stuck in his throat some how and the poor chap died.. I never eat chewing gums, never gave to my kids when young, nor to my grandkids You will not find chewing gum in my home.. Some spit the gum after chewing here and there, they stick to shoe and clothes, once one stick to my saree, removing this was so difficult.. Do you like eating chewing gum, give to your kids, grandkids? Also comment on the story.. kalyani

Hi, I really hate chewing gums. When I was a child, I used to eat chewing gum after a meal. My jaw always aches after I chew one. I never learned to make a bubble from it and I wouldn't want to. Whenever my niece who is 6 years old, is having a vacation in our house to come play with my son, she always have chewing gum in her bag. The thing that make me hate it more is that every time we go somewhere using my car, my niece will stick the chewed gum somewhere in my car. It is really annoying.

Wow I had no idea that this could happen. That is so scary and so sad. I would have thought at 5 years old the child would be ok to chew gum. I rarely give my kids gum but even my little guy whose 3 has chewed gum. Both my kids know not to swallow it but I never thought about the fact that it could get stuck in their windpipe. I wonder if the parents didnt know how to do cpr. That might have saved his life but it doesnt always work.

i like eating chewing gum, but i never encouraged kids to have one. i never heard of this kind of story, but there was a time when one kid in our village happened to eat a coin. good that the coin was found on the stool after he moved his bowel.

Yes we shall not let our children to eat chewing gum. Never let such incident happen again. In my neighboring country, Singapore, chewing gum is not allowed to sell. When those Singaporeans came to my place, they bought a lot of chewing gum to eat on the spot. ha! ha! ha! After our meal, many people like to eat chewing gum to clean our teeth. They should manage the chew gum well after they ate.

I can see how this could happen. I was in high school and was chewing gum and inhaled it with a laugh. I started choking and couldn't breathe. One of the football players carried me into the school so I could get a drink of water and that dislodged the stuck chewing gum. I still remember the scary feeling of not being able to breathe and only occasionally will chew gum or allow my son to.

I am not much into chewing gum myself, though I certainly don't consider it dangerous. However kids love these gums and little kids, say under 8 yrs should not be allowed to have them because of choking hazard.
