If you have 1000 articles, how much do you expect of the monthly passive income?

Most of us write for websites that pay long term passive income. It does not matter whether the website is Adsense revenue sharing or pay by page views, the most important thing is the amount of long term passive income. If you have written 1000 articles in a year, and then you stop writing and promoting the articles, what do you expect your monthly passive income to be? Do you think earning a monthly $50 is good enough or a monthly $100? Admittedly the answer depends on our employment of seo techniques and the subject matter. However, there must be a range that we are comfortable with. What is your expectation?

I am also curious of how much a person could earn as passive income if he has 1,000 articles? I would agree to other responders who said, it depends upon how useful are your topics which interest the viewers to read. I have less than 100 articles in Triond because I have just started to write 2 months ago and so far, I have $2.51 bucks in my account. Well, not bad because I am not spending a lot of time in there and I know this will grow as I continue to write. The good thing is you will be earning every month if you have lots in there.

It will depend if your articles. Are they references that are not found else where? Are they new articles? References stand higher chances of getting the income you refer to. Other type of articles may be hot for that moment so will not earn much after that.

"How To"s should get you pretty consistent views. With 1000 articles, I would say that you should have quite consistent earning.

Hi Strovek, you are right about the consistency of the page views. There is no sudden high or low in the average monthly page views, unless I add in a lot of articles in a month. The only topic that surprised me is about pets. I have just a few articles about dogs, cats and fish. I did not know that the earnings and page views were so good. There are among the highest paid group of articles for me in Triond. I guess I have to read up about the different breeds of dogs and cats, and write an article about each breed.

I absolutely have no idea how much I would get for 1000 articles. I think you would get more than 100$ in a month, if your articles are quality articles of course. :) I'd be happy with $10 a month right now. :p But I only have 35 articles on Triond, so I've still got a long way to go. I'm hoping to reach at least 100 articles this year. I don't know if I'll succeed, but I'll try. Setting goals keeps you motivated! (That's one of my articles, actually. :D)

Hello, Scheng. I have just over 1000 articles on Helium, and my passive income is usually between $80 and $100 a month. I don't actually promote my articles, apart from tweeting a few here and there, so I'm quite happy with that. I haven't got the hang of SEO either - it's something I keep meaning to look into, but never seem to get around to. I guess I just love to write, and the earnings are a welcome bonus. I do quite well on upfronts from Helium as well, although not as well as under the old system. Still, I'm working on it.

Hi Sandra, I am targeting about $80 to $100 for 1000 articles in Triond. I think given time for the articles to age, the search engines will send more traffic to the articles. I do not promote the content as well. I love to learn, and I love to write about things I have just learnt. Some articles, surprisingly, did well in term of page views and income. I have never expect my article about my pet fish to do so well. After all, hardly anyone heard of Banjar Red Arowana.

I have started with Triond, but really don't know what to write. I posted only 5 articles, then my friens (not a Lotter) commented no standard, now I am demoralised.It's great you are targeting 1000 articles. Have you any monetary return so far? But even with $100, I doubt it can make us consider leaving our real-world job altogether. I like your question. I too am curious to know, and I don't even know anything about SEO techniques that can be done for article writing. In the keywords?

Well,1000 articals, if we read one artical each day, we will need about 3 years to reach that goal. I wish i can at least get more than 50 dollars every month from my 1000 articals.

Hi If you have submitted 1000 articles and then stop submitting any more-if the articles are good quality and if you promote them well, say on social networking sites, etc, i feel you can easily earn a passive income of above 50 USD in a month. And the best thing about it is it is life long or at least till the website is in existence. And writing 1000 articles, forget about writing it one year, is no mean task. To do that in a year, you will have to submit at least 3 articles daily. Which is not possible for someone who has full time job. Yes, stay at home moms, with grown up children can do that.

Hi Amirev, all these are the ideas I have used for article writing. I have split up one very lengthy company policy into different articles, each sub-heading becomes a title itself. I think with enough determination to write articles, there is no lack of writing ideas.

Hi Amirev777, actually it is not hard even for a person with full time job to do it. The trick is to convert some office documents, emails or memo into an article with certain keywords, so that it becomes an seo article. I have done so with the company policies. Since my boss asks me to review and write the company policies, I use office hours for the research, drafting, etc. Then I come home, and rewrite the same policy, adds in more keyword phrase, delete anything to do with company, so that it becomes a generic policy template. It is just a matter of creativity. I think we can do the same with emails, especially those dealing with customer complaints, so that we do not do double work in research. After all, we use the internet during office hours to research about the right way to write policies, and the right way to write emails, we might as well upload our result for other users to benefit.

It depends on the quality of your content, the site you write for and the SEO you use to promote your articles. If you have average quality articles with average SEO, you should make about $300 per month, this is my calculation from my experience.

Hi Vijayanths, actually the quality of the articles does not matter as much as the subject matter of the articles. Even the best written poem will not perform as well as an average article about stock investing. The subject matter is one of the most important factor in earning money from article online. Another factor is the amount of promotion after writing the articles. Some writers write a few articles per month, but spend more time on promoting the articles, Even when they are not writing, they still spend time on promotion. If you have 1000 articles online, and you stop writing, but focus on promoting, I think the average income will be more than $300 per month.

Hi scheng, Having 1,000 articles is my goal for this year. But you know me, the tortoise, very slow to getting to the finish line. But I will eventually get there. At this point with about 300 articles, I'm earning about $100 from Triond. So my gauge would be that I would earn $250-300 for 1,000 articles. That would be great! I may not be able to quit my day job but it will help me fund some expenses here and there. Since Val Mills started the personal challenge to have 1,000 articles by end of this year, maybe you should have this discussion again towards the end of the year to see if targets are met and how much we are earning by then. Cheers!

Hi Sydney, there are many factors in search engines algo. Two of the factors are concerned with age. The age of the domain is one factor. That means a website that is ten years old is better than a new website. The reason is that the longer-run website is deemed as more trustworthy. The next factor is the age of the particular page in the website. If you have written two articles about the same subject, the older one will get more views. The same concept applies. The older article has more page views, and is deemed as more trustworthy than new article.

I think we should write for the joy of writing and to share ideas with the world. I heave no idea if one can actually make serious money from writing online. It seems to me that one has to be really good at promoting the articles. I made $2.69 on Triond with the bonus in December. It seems that after a while very few people find the articles and read them. Even the runaway articles that get a lot of hits originally stop getting a lot of hits for some reason. Now I know that I don't really understand the mechanics. But I would think Triond would understand and promote our good articles and help us out with SEO. But they just seem to leave us alone to swim or sink. They are of no help whatsoever. I'll keep writing because I love doing it but as far as money...I don't know...I just don't know!

Hi 1hopefulman, Triond cannot help us with the seo, since they cannot change our articles for us. For example, you are writing a review of the bible book, Exodus. Then Exodus is your keyword. You have to use it frequently, in the title, the first paragraph and the last paragraph. If the article is about 400 words, make sure that this word Exodus appears at least 12 times, but not more than 16 times. When readers search for information about Exodus, they will read your articles. That is why every article must have a targeted set of keyword phrase. The keyword can be the name of a person, a country, a place, a model number of the latest gadget, the food item etc. The more specific the keyword, the better. For example when writing about your favorite banana, do not just say banana, give the name of the banana, eg Demonte banana.

Yes, I have looked at the keyword search tool? But not the one that shows the CPC. Do you have to buy the tool to see CPC value?

Thanks, you have been very helpful. I had to open an account to get that information but I'm sure it will be helpful in how I write my future articles. My most successful article on how to make friends has of today had 857 hits without any promotion. I want to see if I can write an article that will go beyond 1000 hits without doing any promotion.

Hi Adhyz82, if you have put in effort to write 1000 articles, you would not find earning fifty dollars a month is a lot of money. Most people cannot write 1000 articles in a year. It may take eighteen months or two years or even three years to write 1000 articles. I think I can reach the target of 1000 articles in a year, if I am really focus. I have about 270 articles before reaching the first 1000th article. I joined Triond on 31 May, so that gives me about five months for writing 270 articles. The problem is that I do not have the mood to write every day. It is very tedious to do keyword research, research on information, and then writing the content.

It is realistic to expect $1000 a month, if each of your articles can earn $1 a month. But I would say that $100 or $250 is very likely what you will get. I don't know if I can write 1000 articles, it takes a lot of work. I've only written 56 articles so far

Hi Alwayzzcitra, if I count only my content in Triond, it is about 740 now. Some of the content are just complaining about life. Most of the articles are how to articles, such as how to reduce fever, how to take care of [certain breed of fish], how to write for money etc. If taking about the number of articles from the time I started writing online, it should be closer to 1,500 articles. I really cannot keep track of the quantity, since i repost the content in websites that accept duplicate content all the time. Some of the most popular articles are former coursework I did in college. I think students studying the same topic are searching for the answers. These did well in term of page views, but not in term of earnings.

I couldn't agree more with you, scheng1. We can write bunch of articles, but getting people to read and like it is a whole different story. Writing online is about writing what people like, not what you like. And to figure it out sometimes a hit or miss. How many articles have you written so far?

Hi Ebuscat, actually most of us are writing for page views. That means an article written now should continue to produce earnings for the next ten years. That is known as the passive income for article writing. I have an article that earns more than $40 since I posted it two years ago. If I had sold it for $10 at that time, I would not earn from the article. That is why i do not want to sell any article. I do not know when an article can make a hundred dollars for me.

Hi scheng1, I wish I do write 1000 articles as you wanted to. In fact I am also looking for somebody to answer such question so that I can also have an idea. As everybody say it depends on the topic, traffic,keywords,seo. To write quality articles of thousand I think it would take an year or so If I am not wrong. I too think of writing but have not yet published a single article till date. Hope I start writing at least form this New Year. I wish you a happy and quality writing. Lastly my answer to your question is an avg of 0.10 per article multiplied by 1000 should give you at least $100. Happy writing and happy living Calpro
@scheng1 (24649)

Hi Calpro, I was thinking about an average earning of $80 to $100 for 1000 articles. Some articles definitely do better than others in the long run. Some articles are as good as not written at all, since the lifetime page views never exceed 20. I think if we can earn $80 per month for the next ten years, that will mean a total earning of $9600 for 1000 articles. Each article earns $9.60 over the course of its lifetime. I think that is quite a good rate, since an average article of 400 words takes just 20 minutes of our time. Actually too many people worry about the quality of articles, that is why they never start working. I find that the information in the article is more important than the grammar or the punctuation of the article. Nobody cares if you can spell correctly or use perfect English in writing content. They care only that the information must solve their problems. For example, if I want to find ways to treat headache, I do not care about the missing comma or the misspelt words. I just want a method to get rid of headache.
• Canada
10 Jan 11
not all articles are treated equally. for example, some articles would be extremely popular while other articles would be less popular. if i wrote 100 articles, i would hope to make a solid 30 bucks a month. if i have 1000 articles, 100 bucks would be good enough for me.
@scheng1 (24649)

Hi Mistertickle, that is very close to my estimate. My estimate is $80 to $100 per month, since we are unlikely to promote all the articles to get more page views. Most writers promote the new articles, so that the new content can gain a few hundred page views within a week of publishing. However, once they publish another article, the older content may gain just an average of two or three views per day.
