Ok. I know how we can have more money in our pockets. First, since SS is going to play out and there's no point to paying in there for nothing, we should get odd jobs like babysitting, raking leaves, whatever. Then I think we need horses. We could get a wood stove and some lanterns or candles. If we want to eat, we could grow a garden. Let's see where could we get cooking oil? Do you have anymore suggestions on how we could save for the future? Or to live right now for that matter?

I am trying to open up my own dating web site. I am having some trouble starting it. My sister and I are also trying to open our own cleaning company. We are trying anything to make a little money

That's a good idea. There are some things I can't do cause of my age and depreciating body. You know, back pains and all. Thanks. Good luck on your new site. I know you two will do very well.

Well Unfortunately the only way that I know of to save money is to live under your means and saving as much as posible in the bank, but thats not so easy since everything even the little things cost a fortune so other then the basics there isent anything I can suggest but maybe the others can give you some better ideas.

One could get a job and consider social security as a tax and not expect to see that income ever return, if it does its a welcome bonus. Invest your money wisely, in such a lousy economy there is money to be made if one has some extra somehow. You can grow fruit and vegetables for yourself and sell any extras you might have for extra income thats not taxable and branch out into the herb business.

Well TeamCholent, you are a very positive and smart person. I was just thinking about how my heating bill will go up in the next few days, because we are expecting a big snow and lower temperatures than we're used to here. Those are some very good thoughts on income. Thanks so much!

Saving can start at any point in our lives. Basically cut some corners when it comes to certain expenses, eating in more then out, watching sales and clipping coupons. Sometimes with all that it does get a bit to difficult as costs today, even for the necessities, such rent, and utilities continue to grow. Who knows what the future of Social Security is going to be like, Lord knows I have paid my share into it and perhaps never see it, would not surprise me as nothing has to date. If so I welcome it some day. In the interim, we do what we can to survive, such as continue to find that dollar.

That is a smart and forward-thinking thought. Cooking oil is easy to come by if you keep your own livestock: you boil the fat and use the runoff!

Of course. Of course. Why didn't I think of that? My mind went blank. I could get 2 pigs and keep this going. Thanks.
