how easy to make a friend

i often wonder ,how easy a friend can be formed , i believe a friend exists before love came into the world , human helped each other and started as friends then strong trust in one another created the love and affection ,so just wanted to make a point that friendship is more reliable and important then love , likewise ,friend is a basic need for everyone ,
but i wonder why people select love when it comes to a point that , one is to be decided love or friendship ,
