Rock Music from the 70's

Does frequent listening to music especially rock/prog rock/psychedelic/hard rock from the 70's make one averted towards the present day music stuff. I personally believe it does and I do believe I am a victim of the same. What intrigues me is how can the present day stuffs be so devoid of "substance" and lacking in any sort of "definite feel". No offense intended but all they've got is "totally synthetic tones" unlike the stuff from the 70's which were so rich in "natural, vivid and feel-for-it tones". And I am a die hard fan of progressive rock music, a genre which pushed the limits and boundaries of conventional rock music, and I like listening to stuff from the late 60's to late 80's and nothing beyond. I find it real hard to synchronize with anything that is new especially hip-hop and pop genres.

Im pretty much the same. A lot of the stuff hear today is often rubbish, and manufactured. Bands like Airbourne, Black Country Communion (with Glenn Hughes), even Foo Figtehrs are the few that have substance. Most of my (99.5%) of my record collection is made up of bands/artists from the 70/80's. Anything from the Beatles (White album) and Hendrix, to Deep Purple, Whitesnake or Rainbow to Dio, AC/DC or Motorhead. They all have substance, and worked hard to make the bands a success. I personally don't mind Prog, Pink Floyd are prominent in the genre, but I recently got into Rush, which are really good. But, ofcourse, im 20, im young so I have plenty of time to buy and discover other bands.

YOu dont have to be a good singer to make a hip hop or rnb song. These days you can use autotune or the computer effects to enhance one's voice. Shows who's got or who doesnt have talent. Yep. I still enjoy listening to old songs even though im a younger generation. Better songs are hard to come by nowadays. However some hip hop or rap songs sample old songs to make their own better. One good example would be like Black eyed peas using the time of my life. But either way, you just gotta find the better music among the average AVERAGES out there.

Certainly, Rock music made extraordinary progress as an art form between about 1965 and 1972, and you could make a case for a further decade or more after that; and then seemed to run out of steam. I think this may because Rock more than perhaps any other art form in history found its lifeblood in being the music of youth. And when rock itself began to age, so it lost much of its lifeblood. But if one looks beyond the surface today of the most popular music forms, I believe there is still a lot of good music. It may be that the 2010s will see a modest revival of popular music. Certainly things are reasonably auspicious; although it's doubtful it'll be in the field of Hard Rock. Much of the best music being made today in my opinion tends towards Soft Rock with overtones of Progressive, Jazz, Folk and Classical. But it seems Progression is no longer frowned upon, as it was for so long.

I also love listening t the rock songs before- I don't really like any new rock songs now.. As you have already said, they just sound good but don't have that much substance and meaning..
