Prs. Obama calls for the country to pull together as a nation.

"Right now the main thing we're doing is to offer our thoughts and prayers to those who've been impacted, making sure that we're joining together and pulling together as a country," ~Obama Prs. Obama, if you mean that we agree with your policies, or give up what we believe in to appease you? I say NO WAY! However, that's not what I think you mean. If you mean that we should be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with other Americans (no matter the political persuasion), then I agree and stand with you. We are Americans, all of us. The differences are just details. We've always stood together when it counts, and there's no reason to stop now. For Prs. Obama and those who back him, yes, we can put aside our differences at this time. We can mourn with the families and friends of the victims who didn't make it, as well as those who need us most through their recovery. We are Americans first, political parties and persuasions second. If we can't do that then that choice does more harm than all the gun toting criminals or terrorists out there. We are Americans!

I was appalled that people actually critized the president for planning to go to Arizona and speak. Whether you like him or not, whether you voted for him or not, he is the President of the United States and it is his job to pull us together at times like this. In England they have a Prime Minister to handle the politics and a Queen to head the state. Here, we give both tasks to our President. We turned to George Bush after 911 and we turned to Bill Clinton after the Oklahoma City bombings. The generation before us turned to FDR after Pearl Harbor. President Obama is not making political hay out off this. He is doing his job. We can be wary of othe politicians making statements but we should be opento the president. Personally, I hope and pray he will rise to the occasion as well as some of the presidents who went before him.

Yes, he is doing his job and should be there... Whether it becomes political hay or not is entirely up to him.

It's nice to see Obama showing class at a time like this. I wish more on the left would follow his example right now when even scumbags in congress like D!ck Durbin are eager to fingerpoint. I'm disgusted by how many on mylot jumped at the opportunity to pin this on the right before the bodies were even cold.

I was very impressed with what not only President O'Bama said but also all the other who spoke tonight. They all did what we should all do not only at a time like this, but always, first and foremost, use God's word to guide and comfort us. I am not a first class religious fanatic, but I do believe that God can and will give us comfort , guidance, wisdom, knowledge and the sense to know how to use them all, if we will just trust and believe in Him. Bravo President O'Bama, for once you had my respect.

hi for once I totally agree with you and I am proud to be an American and will stand shoulder to shoulder with all of my fellow Americans. We are in deep financial trouble and need to help each other find ways out of it.Surely at a time like this we should all forget right, left, center, democrats, republicans and as you put it so well We are all Americans first. thanks for a great discussion. My son has found two part time jobs and thats great I am so proud of him, I am retired now but worked til I was almost 80.

Yep I agree. Instead of finger pointing we need to be coming together to support the families that have been hurt by this horrible act. But try telling the general public that...they are too busy trying to use it as a political weapon to care about the families.
