IPL: a big motive, isn't it ?

I think more than cricket its money and nothing else... Where's the game man, I mean IPL is just money money money n no game... Each and every match seems to be decided to make sure the money flows from all the possible ways.

On a very personal note, i do not like IPL much. But, yes ! it is a big movie. The TRP of IPL is highest in Indian television history. Even my mother watches IPL instead of serial. This has also given a chance for many hardworking local cricketing talent to earn a decent living. Even on a talent front, IPL has brought players like Tiwari, Yusuf & Jadeja into Indian Team. Sure it promotes cricket. My complaint is with level of politics & corruption associated with IPL. Also the quality of cricket is pretty mediocre. No IPL match can match the quality of an international 20-20. Despite that IPL remains an important achievement in the annuls of Indian Cricket.

I do think that IPL is a big sporting brand. It compares favorably with much more established brands like the EPL and NFL. It is really surprising because both EPL and NFL have been there for quite long and brand building for these have been going for decades whereas in case of IPL is just 3 years old. In this aspect Modi does deserve all the credit for creating this brand!! Cheers! Ram
