Hey Friends, Is this the right time to buy a new Smartphone? I have read over the internet that soon the mobile companies will be launching smartphones with 2GHz processor. Currently the phones in the market are like 1GHz max. What do you think, is it a good bet to wait for a couple of months as after the 2GHz launch 1GHz prices will slash too. M confused as I am not sure when these phones will be launched and how long will I need to wait.

I think so, a lot of people have them at the moment, and I think they make ones that are reasonably priced now too. So I am personally thinking about getting one at the moment. But I think there is a chance that prices will be reduced again in the future, but it is impossible to say when that will be, so if you are unlucky you might have to wait for a while... But it depends on what kind of phone you would want to get too, of course...

Right Pucca. I have been looking for either Dell Streak or HTC Desire HD and both are highly priced currently. If I wait for a couple of months and a new processor gets launched, it will definitely come down.

Oh, they have started the speed game on phones too! Look, a 100 mhz Pentium 1 connects to the Internet at the same speed as a 3.2 Ghz multi core piece of overkill! I gig, 2 gig, 3 gig, you still can't talk faster into your phone! The only visible effect will be in the price!

Right Peter. gig's will keep increasing surely and so the price. the main confusion is what to buy, when to buy n for how much... this is running me insane... I have been waiting since a couple of months to come on a decision now.

it is lways hard to understand which is the right period to buy a smartphone also because normally different brands will lauch different kind of phones during all the year and so it would be difficult understand if the next model should b better for you or not!!Surely i think that a day all samrtphones can have 2ghz or more as regards processor power but you know if you hear all news or rumors about new products inreality you will wait forever because normally when you buy a smartphone but also a pc after soem months surely there will be an upgraded or uploaded version..so this is the tech business to sell much in a short period..

Right but I even checked it in CES2011 and it seems that the phones are gonna be launched soon. I am eager to purchase a phone now and cant wait more but at the same time, if 2Ghz comes in the market I will be stuck with 1Ghz that I purchase.

I really think that only you know for sure if you want to buy one now, or wait. It seems like technology is always changing as it is hard to keep up with it. I bought my phone in October and they have better phones our there now, than when I bought my phone. Since I just bought it a few months ago, I can't do a thing until next year in the summers, so I am stuck. It does make it hard when the phones are getting better and better. I think it all depends on what you need the phone for, and what you want on it. I do like smartphones too, as they can have lots of features and I can do a lot with the one I have, even though it doesn't have full flash, it is still a very good phone. Take care, and have a very good day.

Thanks for your reply. Agreed with you. The problem is when a person needs a smartphone he looks for everything into it, right from its OS to making calls easily using it. there are lots of handsets in the market but the one's which are loaded with everything right now are costly and trust me they are COSTLY. I mean they do not deserve to be priced so heavily.

Hello zahir, What could you possibly using a 2 Ghz processor for ?? That is going to eat your battery life nicely too. That means more frequent charging, now that to me is irritating, my phone is just 434 Ghz and a decent 128 mb RAM. But i like it, it has a considerable talktime of 8.75 hours and i can do what ever i like to with that capacity. 1 GHz is nice, and i believe it is enough for a phone. Some of the computers we use still run on 2GHz processors. We are never going to use our phones like a computer, and now where near that. It's your choice to wait or to buy, but if you are looking for something like that, just make sure your battery capacity is at least 1500mAh. Otherwise you would have to keep it charging frequently. Well, depends upon you. I am happy with what i have now.

The new year always seems to have a lot of great promotions. Now would be the perfect time to have that smartphone on your wishlist. This is the time they can be most affordable.
