I know you're all thinking strange title & what does this have to do with makeup? Easy I have the strange subconscious urge to rub my eyes when I wear eye makeup. I don't know why but I've noticed I eventually rub my eyes and smear everything. Now I don't feel an itch or any kind of irritation so I know it's not an allergy. But for whatever reason many times when I wear eye makeup that's what happens. I don't wear much make up for many reasons including the fact I'm mainly a stay at home Mom & who do I need to impress? Though I have started wearing some make up to work here and there but I worry about rubbing it off. Is it because I'm not used to wearing it often? I just wanted to know does anyone else do this?

I don't wear makeup much either and because I tend to smear it anyway, or if I have it on, it'll stay on the entire night until I take a shower the next day. I just don't like messing with makeup, a little lip gloss? sure, but that's about it.

I think it makes that area feel differently, the difference is so small you don't realize it but unconsciously your body knows it's there and wants to get rid of it.
If you wear it every day your body gets use to it and will even feel differently when you don't wear it. You feel not quite right, like you forgot something.

I am thinking that you are just not use to wearing it. Start wearing it at home as well when you go out. When you get used to wearing it more often, you will not even be conscious of it and,, hopefully, not rub your eyes.

I got the same behavior whenever I have eye shadow on. Although I love to have make up on, I feel bad when I absentmindedly rub my eyes because of some little itch along my eyelids. But the itch disappears after I rub the itchy part and my eyeshadow smearing my eyes.
One of my officemates told me to put some water on the eyeshadow before applying it on the eyelids so the eyeshadow will stay longer. But be careful not to rub too much. I tried it, it worked though.

The few times I've worn it, I've had the same urge that you do. That's one reason I don't wear any makeup--it feels like I have clown makeup on, really heavy on my face no matter how little I apply. So I just don't wear it. I am what I am and won't hide my imperfections--mainly because it's so darned uncomfortable!
It's nice to dress up for work and try to improve your face but that's a lot of sacrifice!

3SnuggleBunnies I have not noticed that with my eyes and make up, but because I often do not get enough sleep I will rub my eyes. I do wear eye
shadow most of the time I guess I am used to it.But on rare occasions I wear foundation I feel my face getting sweaty and I check on my foundation. The nice even look is now blotchy as the stuff seems to
liquefy and just dissolves rather on my face. The result is I have to remove the stuff before it drips onto my neck. Such an embarrassing result when I wanted to just look really nice. Now I just put on lipstick and eye shadow to play up my one good feature.

All the time. I'm so used to NOT wearing makeup and rubbing my eyes that when I do wear it, I forget.

Yes, but not with make up. I'm usually aware that I'm wearing make up so am extra careful not to rub. If I have an itch or my eyes are tearing up for whatever reason I tend to blot.
My subconscious behavior is my hair. Ever since I was a kid, whenever my hair grew past shoulder length (as a kid it was kept short most of the time) and it's not in a pony tail I constantly keep pulling it up into a pony tail, then realize I don't have a hair tie so let it fall again.
Obviously, I keep it pulled back with a hair tie 99% of the time except for when I'm sleeping. The second I wake up, I reach for the hair tie and pull my hair back. The hair tie is the last thing to come off me at night.
But, whenever I am trying to look nice, I tend to find ways to leave it down, because if a pony tail is my everyday look than leaving it down would be my "done up" look. But it always bugs me and I can't stop playing with it and trying to pull it into a pony tail.

Not usually but could be as you mentioned, as I am one that wears it often so am very conscious not to rub it off. It is like when people bite their nails, often times they are told to get professional manicures, there fore they know they paid money to get them to look nice which will divert them from biting.
So I know I invested time into getting them to look nice so I suppose I am subconsciously thinking not to get it ruined. So I suppose it is what you are doing as you are not use to wearing it often.
I remember a couple times wanting to rub and saying to myself, oh oh can't LOL..
