Mass bird and fish deaths! Are they connected?

Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous reports of mass deaths in the fish and bird communities. The internet is buzzing with theories and fears about these events being related. It's hard to actually find an exact number of deaths in each event. Some reports state 8000 turtle doves fell out of the sky in Italy and most had a strange blue tinge in their beaks. Over 2 million fish washed up on shore in Chesapeake Bay, while numerous accounts of birds falling to their deaths have come in from Arkansas and surrounding areas. 5000 blackbirds plummeted to their deaths in Beebe on Dec.31.
