I am hoping that this Asia Cup could be the stepping stone for Indian football. I remember India qualified for a world cup in the 1950s but were barred from the tournament because they did not have shoes to play with!! Since then Indian football took a bit of a back step. Till the seventies India was still a decent power at the Asian level, but since then it has all been cricket in India. After such a long time we have managed to qualify for Asia Cup and hope that this could be the stepping stone for more success at the international stage!!
Cheers!

saudi arabia is not even 10% of what they were in 94,a really great team. The players now are very bad,in my opinion.I see a great comeback from iraq, they have a team that maybe can qualify to a future worldcup, and bahrein and qatar are not bad, they are playing well.the potences still on my opinion, are south korea, australia and japan, but in my opinion 2002 south korea was the best team ever of them, they had the really great Ahn Jung Hwan and the safe goalkeeper Lee Woon Jae.I don´t like this Ryong,he´s nothing comparing to Woon Jae.

I like Asian cups too.
It is a great way where players from all over Asia to show their skill in sport and could become a great player just like other known players in other western countries.
It is also a way where people from other countries will know each others culture.

I think Asia and football is a good combination. Because I don't think you need height to play football, it is very well suited for asians who are generally not as tall as other people in the west.
The asian cup is a good venue to showcase this. And like you said, for people to be discovered.
