What to do now?

For 70 years I have been an Aries and I have been very happy as an Aries, I fit that sign just like it was written for me. But now THEY say I am a Pisces, I went from an air sign to a water sign, does this make my whole life a lie? How are you doing? Are you ready for this change" Can you believe it?

I was born in a small nursing home on a cold December afternoon, "just in time for tea", as my mother put it. I don't think that in what part of the heavens the sun was at the time had one jot of influence on my future character or who I have become, even though it certainly did affect the state of the tide somewhat (though the moon actually has a much stronger effect). Though I don't think it matters in the least, I was actually born while the sun was in the constellation of the Snake Bearer rather than, as I had long believed, the sign of the Archer. I can now confuse (with not a little mischeivous delight) anyone who asks my sun sign by saying that I am a Serpentarian rather than a Saggitarian. The position of the sun as seen from the Earth against the background of distant stars has been changing, no doubt, ever since the Earth was created. In the several thousand years since man first named the constellations and recorded the fact that our local heavenly bodies appeared to move with respect to them, those positions have changed, in fact this was noted more than 2000 years ago. Also the Babylonians liked the number 12 better than the number 13, so they 'adjusted' the span of each constellation and ignored a rather large but off-centre one called, by Ptolemy, Ophiuchus and by the Romans Serpentarius. There are at least two distinct systems of astrology. Western astrology only recognises 12 'signs' (constellations on the ecliptic), each occupying 30 degrees but many Eastern astrologers have long recognised 13 signs, Ophiuchus (the 'Snake bearer') being one of them.

Well, I am a Yang Metal Dragon, an Archer and a Snake-Bearer. Also my totem is an Owl, apparently (now ain't that just appropriate ... I only just found this page: http://www.psychic-revelation.com/reference/m_p/native_american_astrology/owl.html and I was born 8th Dec!) That gives me a whole lot of attributes to choose from - and of course, like anyone, I choose the ones I feel most appropriate and tend to think of the others as 'secondary' or 'not true because everyone is different, after all, and there might have been some other planets in opposition'. You can check your totem here: http://www.psychic-revelation.com/reference/m_p/native_american_astrology/index.html but, if you don't like it, you can say that, after all, you aren't a Native American ... or something!

I was thinking of another thing, I'm wondering what all those self proclaimed expert Astrologers are thinking of right now

I don't doubt that they will take it in their stride. They will either quickly find some attributes which will 'fit' people just as well as the older ones, or they will tell you that the sun sign is really a relatively unimportant part of one's chart (any serious astrologer will tell you that, anyway), or they will completely ignore the fact that the sun is no longer in the traditional signs at the given times anyway and that the whole system is symbolic.

Ya, they will tell us everything "under the sun" to keep their rich clients who are just dying to know what the future holds

It seems that we have been mislead from the very beginning. This means a revolution in astrology, doesn't it?Time for changes anyway. For some, it will be a big disappointment because they think they're sign is the best for them. But does this thing really matter so much?I think it's just a game.It always was.

What do you mean it changed?! Did your birthday suddenly change?! Goodness, I am so confused. Explain further, will ya? LOL. I am a cancer and have been for my 20 years of existance. BUT I barely pay attention to horoscopes and zodiac signs and astrology and the like. I don't really believe in it, as I find a lot of the horoscopes they give me and character traits to be inaccurate. I guess if you're a die-hard horoscope-r type person, it would come as a shock/disappointment to realize you were actually a different sign than the one you believed you were for all these years..But for the rest of us, eh, it wouldn't be a big deal I don't think.

I already knew that there was another sign years ago but it was banned because it was evil or something, but I have just rang my mum to inform her that my stepdad and my brother are no longer pisces!

It's just the idea, for years lives were based on the daily readings for your sign, and now you learn you were doing the wrong thing all along, At least now you know why your life sucks.

Hi, I don't pay much attention about zodiacs and the likes. So it's not a big deal for me if my birth sign change or not. Admittedly, I read horoscope but just for fun and I don't take what is written seriously. There's a lot more to life to focus on.

I must say I am totally confused with this new system. I used to believe in the astrological system and predictions. Honestly speaking, I have now lost the faith and confidence in the system. I now see astrology as a "Total Cheat". Sorry to say that. If this has been there from the beginning, why was it not introduced and practised from the beginning ? Why just now ? This is more like telling the people that we are all "multiple personalities". Untrustworthy, treacherous, and faithless !!

I can tell you this as fact. You are the same person you were before. The road of life you are on has not changed. If you believed before as was fact just be aware that your mind is very powerful and what it knows as fact is just that fact for you. We all see life from our own point of view no matter how it changes.

No, no, no!! Rawwwr!! I have been going so crazy over all of this. lol. No, you are not a Pisces now. You were born under Aries, so you are still, and will always be, an Aries. I was born under Sagittarius. Now those born in the future who share my birthday will not share my sign. They will be the new sign. But I am still a Sagittarius. The present and future does not change the past.

I am sorry but I refuse to change from a Cancerian which is typically me to a Gemini which is nothing like me! And what the heck is an Ophiuchus? I am not changing; I don’t care how the Earth's alignment stands! I think that you are happy being an Aries, you should continue to be one!

I am that new sign that I know nothing about..lol...no I am not happy. Maybe if I knew more about it..I think they may actually have to change the traits around too if they expect this whole thing to fly.

Take heart, whatever influence the stars had when you were born they are still the same, even if the names have changed. You are who you are and have always been. Blessings

Isn't that the oddest thing? I don't know what sign I am now that they all have changed. They have added a new one too. Do you know a link where I can check it out? I just saw a rundown on the news.

This has been happening for thousands of years already. Everyone alive today was born under a different sign than they thought because astrology has not kept pace with the actual science of astronomy - the Earth wobbles a bit in its rotation over the course of centuries, making the Sun appear in different constellations progressively. In any case, it doesn't really matter because astrology isn't valid anyway. It's not a science and isn't based on anything that could possibly affect personalities. It is more of a way to take your money than anything else!

I don't believe much in this kind of predictions about zodiac signs and things like that, and I think you should do the same. The sign you have should not tell you how to live. Just be what you feel to be, and if you do this, it won't matter any sign you have.

i have been a cancer since but with the recent addition of this new zodiac sign, i've been "moved back" under the gemini category. i find it hilarious and confusing. but i don't believe horoscopes or signs should really define who we are. while there are some descriptions under my "former" sign which fit me, i still don't subscribe to the whole concept of being what i am under this sign or any other new zodiac sign, for that matter. i can only be me.

Hi savypat, I don't understand, what's happening anyway and why is your sign changed? I was born on Oct.22 and although it's on the cusp, I've always considered myself a Libra and I think it's right for me. Blessings.

I'm in the same boat as you, changed from Aries to Pisces. I love the water, though, I used to wish I could turn into a mermaid and stay in the water all the time. I've never taken astrology seriously, though. I'll sometimes look at my horoscope but always at night when it can't influence my actions during the day. It's usually way off base!
