Mr. Delay states that he has been convicted by a political court ... suggesting that he is not guilty of money laundering and that the jurors in that trial convicted him due to their political affiliations! What do you think?

...Hi there gladys46, I have followed this on the fringe, but I think that he just might have a case of being tried under an obscure racketeering law which may not quite be on target. I think that his lawyers might get him off because of this. Not that he was innocent but the evidence was not strong enough to put him in jail for what he did, using campaign money for the wrong thing or in the wrong way, but it was a stretch with the conviction, so we have to wait it out. So there will be a "delay", while they appeal. His political career may be over which is what I think they wanted to do in the first place. Cheers. .

Hi artistry!! Yes, I believe the appellate argument does go to irrelevance of charges. The outcome of this appeal may have much to do with how the lower court charged the jurors. Whether or not that was overreaching. I would say that if Delay does get a favorable ruling in his appeal, the most the higher court might do is remand for new trial. The amount of money transferred inter and outside state is compelling as to racketeering. And, yes the mere appearance of wrongdoing did cause his fall.
