Okay, looks like Obama is going to put foot into China's you know without hurting our trade with them. I think the only thing that is interesting is Obama is looking to get to the citizens of China directly which is awesome. As that is the best way to get a country to change especially one that has an omnipresent government. This could have a down side if we or our government cause a destabilization when we are trying to have China be in our corner for both Iran and North Korea this could back fire. I am sure Obama is getting all the ducks in a row so he can make sure he can still get what he wants and keep China in our corner so if we need them. We do have a really strong position we could stop sending them food that would cause the country to quickly back peddle as they don't have enough ability to feed all 3 Billion of their people. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/14/AR2011011406907.html So what do you think? Is this a good time to be going after our trading partner?

dark_joev, Sometimes, I wonder why there's so much talk on human rights to the extent of forcing it down peoples' throats here. Is China's government so oppressive that the people are being threatened and living without their essential freedom? I hope that the Westerners would recall an old adage that all of us are different and as such have a different way of doing things. So, governance is never done on a single general benchmark because what may work for US may not work for China or for other countries. Also, if the 13 billion in China is so oppressed - then let's not forget that they are capable of another revolution where China is no stranger to since 1949. In all fairness, just like US, China has come a long way to arrive and become what she is today. So, I am sure the people in the government knows what and how to run their country. Which is how every country establishes their code of law and conduct. Sometimes, I wonder about the hypocrisy and bigotry here when the local law finds dissidents and the Wests would disagree and call them human rights activists. For what does it profit a country to have endless eruptions when there are differences on the political front or domestic disputes. Who suffers at the end of the day? Americans? Europeans? I think we all know the answer here. China has just open herself to the rest of the world and as such her people and her has a lot to catch up and most of learn from the outside world. So, it is not wrong for them to be selective and choose to reject whatever that is not practical or good for their country. I remember the prolific Jiang Zhemin former president of China once said this to the visiting George Bush: "We need SURVIVAL RIGHTS before HUMAN RIGHTS" and I just cannot help but really agree with him even right to this very day. So, I'd say let's let each and everyone conduct their business under the sun and respect each other. Focus on what is ahead and strive towards a common ground to achieve peace, harmony and a prospective economy.

It's never a good time to get in some other country's business and tell them how to run things unless we are perfect. Even so, we aren't Chinese. I understand the desire but I really don't think it's right to try to force anything. Opening discussions about what we see - yes, okay, that's a good thing to do, especially if we're willing to hear what they have to say about how we run our country too; hearing other's opinions can give a fresh perspective. It just isn't our business to insist.

I think that in a time like this, diplomacy is in order, we need to remember who holds our debt. I do think that trade agreements need to be rethought. That is a lot of reason our economy and employment rate are where they are. I dont think Obama needs to "go after" anybody. We need to keep our nose out of other countries business.
