CORAL WORLD PARK... ASIA'S FIRST UNDER WATER RESORT HOTEL TO BE BUILT IN PALAWAN, PHILIPPINES. . . Isn't this exciting?!!! Never mind the question if it really is Asia's first (Dubai and Maldives are in Asia right?). They should have said Southeast Asia's first underwater resort hotel. For all these months I have been wanting to go to Fiji for their Underwater resort and here I am reading this news about an underwater resort being built here. Oh boy! Now I can enjoy it at our own backyard. Would you try sleeping here even if it is that expensive? There is still no price tag on that but I am assuming that it might be expensive as what I have heard about the underwater resort in Fiji.

Coral World Park in Palawan Philippines sounds really interesting! I'm a busy person but on weekends, I really am trying to once in a while visit the wonders here in my own coontry. I've gone to Puerto Galera and the Coral Garden there was amazing! The one to be built in Palawan is really exciting! The beauty of the corals allow me to relax and appreciate nature. I will love it for sure! I hope it would be finished when I visit Palawan with friends and loved ones.

The article says that it would be finished in 2013. Better set your plan to Palawan at the end of 2013...

Thank you! So I guess i have to suspend first my travel there and get to visit other wonders in the Philippines yet. We already have a plan of going to Palawan and I would have a good news to them regarding the Coral World Park.

You can visit Puerto Princesa and El Nido in the meantime. Both are very good locations also.

That sounds fantastic! By the time my family and I are ready to visit my husband's relative in the Philippines again (we go every few years) it should be finished, and I will DEFINITELY add it to our itinerary. Thanks for sharing such wonderful news!

As I have said earlier, try scheduling your trip at the end of 2013 or early 2014.

A coral world park sounds ever so exciting because I love coral reefs. I hope that when the you find out the price you will be able to afford to stay there. An underwater resort is very unusual indeed. I will have a look at its website when it is really. I hope to come over to the Philippines and see Palawan Island. I have done lots of snorkeling around coral reefs and that is very enjoyable. When I was in the Maldives a budget room on one of the resort islands was about $80 to over $100 so I guess their underwater hotel would be ever so much more pricey. I await to hear how much it will cost in Palawan.

Me too... I am eager to learn its price. I hope it doesn't cost USD15,000 - 20,000 per week like the one in Fiji.

At that sort of price one night would be enough. When I went a Fiji I paying $25 a night on lovely Beachcomber Island.

The sad thing bout this is they haven't introduce their one night stay yet. You have to stay there for a week...

Wow, that sounds great! That's good news because not only is it a soon to be first in Southeast Asia but also a unique experience. It's also beneficial to our country because it will attract more visitors (and even investors, I hope). I don't know if I might try it if it's expensive though.

I'm not so much for attracting more investors in Palawan. More visitors perhaps and at a controlled rate to boot. More investors would mean more development and lets face most, if not all, investors are after the money not protecting the biodiversity of the area. It could turn out to be fools gold, as Palawan would become one big beach and we lose sight of the reason why we love it in the first place.

Same here. I remember this article about a group gathering signatures to save Palawan from this large scale tourism projects. They wanted to limit the number of investors coming in. I hope they can do something about it. I wish the Coral World Park would be the last. The last I heard before this project, is the project being done by Banyan Tree somewhere in Coron. They are constructing a resort on an island with hundreds of rooms or maybe more than a thousand rooms. Imagine the influx of tourists and people in the area when resorts as big as this booms in the area. I love Coron. I was saddened they let a resort as big as that be opened in the area.

You are right. It sure will attract more visitors to Palawan. Also there are a lot of investors who already have poured in some money on this project and a lot of investors eyeing on Palawan as another province to develop for large scale tourism. I sure hope so it won't be that expensive but I will try it nevertheless.

That would be cool, BUT, I hope it won't affect the coral reef.. You can try Hotel H20 in Manila Ocean Park. I know it is just an aquarium, but, it looks awesome too! And it is much cheaper!

Hotel H2O may be cheaper but it would just feel like having an oversized aquarium for a wall right? Being underwater in the sea is a totally different experience, depending on the price difference of course!

According to the article no marine life will be affected during construction and the biodiversity of the place will not be harmed. In H2O, you get an aquarium for a view. In this resort, you get a 270 degrees of the sea scape.

Just imagine the amount needed to build the hotel. No doubt it being expensive. YEA its exciting but its like another 2 years before its completed. By the time its built, you probably already went to Fiji :3 Furthermore, why would you visit your backyard with familiar features when you can go far far away..

Because as of now, I can't afford to stay there at USD20,000 per pax... hehehe... I am assuming it is a little cheaper here and flight cost will be minimal. I really like to experience being underwater... I have problems diving but I want to be underwater.
