Ok, I put this under "people" because I don't talk sports enough to justify putting it under my "interests". That being said... What kind of kick in the crotch would it be if the Green Bay Packers wins (or even just goes to) the Superbowl the year he finally hangs up his helmet? It would have to grind salt into the old wounds.

It would be great for Green Bay, for a mirad of reasons/ First, It fives the hardcore Farve fans who have yet to embrace Rodgers a chance to admit that this guy is top caliber. He's been playing at a high level for a while now, and it could be his time... ...Also, he's pretty much catapulted to legendary status in Green Bay if he wins one. Making it to the mountain top in a city like that is celebrated for years. That fanbase really appreciates a winner. If she go down in the NFC title game, they'll still show love for the organization and it's players. If he can lead the packers to a Super Bowl win, he'll own that town for the rest of his career. I'm not sold on Brett being done yet. What's stopping him from coming back...again...and waiting a couple of days before the season starts before reporting to whatever team he signs with? What would be his reasoning for doing so? The opportunity to eliminate the champs from the play offs? OMG, what if he becomes a coach, and adds that as a goal in his itinerary every season? I can't take any more Farve press conferences! Love his play style, high risk and reward, but I'm all Farve'd out because of what's happened the last few years with him.

It's crazy here, like a religion or something. I like it though because it makes for no lines at stores and restaurants during the games. ;~D

That would be pretty ironic and quite fitting I think. But you're assuming he is actually going to retire. How many times has he retired now? Well, not actually retired but stated his intent to retire. He could change his mind yet again and try to return next season if some team will take him. Who knows? I think he should retire, but then again, I thought he should have retired when he left the Packers. He did damage to his reputation by hanging on for these last few years. If Green Bay does make it to the Superbowl, I think it would be the final exclamation point at the end of his career. GO PACK!

Word is he has turned in his retirement papers to the NFL... but yeah, I know what you mean. Among his many laudable records, I think he also holds the record for the most retirements.

If it happened when Brett went with the Jets, I think it would have got to him. But after his first year in Minnesota, he beat the Packers twice and has enough revenge to last. He knew they were a good team, that's why he kept changing his mind about retiring. I don't think Montana was bitter about Young winning. I could be wrong there, but I think guys with careers that great don't really let their old teams winning with the "new" guy bother them that much. I can bet anything that Drew Bledsoe was PO'd that Brady won with the Pats the year he went out due to injury.

That's because Joe Montana went out with class, where Favre has just been a chump, a whiner and a textual predator ;~D

The Packers are going to the Super Bowl and it is putting salt in Favre's wounds! He always said he wanted to be a Minnasota Viking because he thought they had the best team in the NFL! They did in 2009 but he f&cked up in the NFC Championship game and was so close going to the Super Bowl! The 2010 season the Vikings had injury problems, coaching problems, the crap with Randy Moss,Favre playing with injuries and not playing like he can.No wonder the Vikings sucked 2010! Now Brett has put in his retirement papers to the NFL! Maybe now the drama is finally over!!
