Laughter is the best medicine

Laughter is the best medicine, they say. Is laughter that much innocent as it sounds? Why do we laugh at the failures of others? Slipping on a banana peel if you fall down on a thoroughfare, there will be very few people to help you minding the seriousness of the injury. Most will enjoy the sight wearing a wide grin on their faces. Why?

Generally, people don't laugh on other's failures if it would mean hurt on their part. We only laugh on mistakes which we perceive as will be taken lightly by the one who commits it. But yes, sometimes we laugh at other's honest mistake and when such happens the one who commits it should just go with the flow and just laugh at it.

I agree with all your words, SIMPLYD. A laugh will become the best medicine, when it is made in the positive manner. All positive things will result something positive, too. A nice discussion.., have a nice day for you all..., best wishes

It seems SIMPLYD and atleya, that not all laughter is good medicine. Probably the healthiest kind of laughter would be laughing at really funny jokes or telling a joke on yourself (my mother always used to say: "Confident people tell jokes about themselves"). As you've both said, their is cruel laughter when you make jokes about other people. And, have you ever heard the kind of shrill laugh of a person who gets a nasty surprise - and tries to laugh it off. There are probably many kinds of laughter, from a titter through to a guffaw, or to the frenzied laughing/crying of hysteria. I've never thought of it, before. You're right, not all laughter is the best medicine. But I hope you both find good things to laugh at!

There are people who even laugh at the failures as well as the physical flaws of others. The selfsame people will mind you if you laugh at them. Laughter seems to be the best medicine only when it remains the harmless kind. Cruel jokes will deflate the self-esteem of many a person.

We can put this thing into a positive view. People laugh at this to make the situation lighter. I have witness some of this, people laugh but in the end give a caring look for the victim. This only means they care . They just laugh off the burden of having a serious accident. So another proof that laughter is the best medicine, for putting away that stress of witnessing an accident!

Yes, laughter is a means of coping with difficulties in life. We may laugh at others but at the same time we should learn how to laugh at ourselves. That will lead to healthy laughter which is capable of helping others getting their problems defused.

Well people are unique. Maybe they laughed/ grinned to make the incident lighter, to make the injured grin too thus helping ease the pain. I don't think that laugh is the best medicine, but I do think hat being happy and receptive in life is the best medicine.

Laughter does add to our happiness in life as long as it is innocent and devoid of rudeness.

It is a true fact that laughter is the best medicine in our life. If we able to laugh we can keep away the bad thinking of our life at present and future. So laugh is the best policy to keep us free from any hazard. Now we can see that some laughing club has established for laughing.

Yeah, indeed, laughter is the best medicine.Once my friend told me that, when people laugh out loud several times in a day would help us avoid diseases.Of course, people feel happy and relax is certainly good to our health. So we should keep positive in our daily life and try to treat something that ain't so happy in a right attitude. That would be a great way for us to live longer. So most people would wear a wide grin on their faces, that's really a good attitude towards life. And you should do the same way too.

Yes, laughter therapy is gaining ground round the world. If the attitude is right, laughter can be an excellent antidote to many of our problems in life.

I guess what is being referred to when someone says "laughter is the best medicine" is the laughter that is result of pure joy or happiness that comes within our hearts. I agree that people will laugh at others mistakes but it's not a healthy laugh at all because deep in our hearts we do not rejoice on his/her mistake. When someone slip on a banana peel, we will feel two different emotions, we feel pity on the person but other people will laugh maybe because they just want to make the situation lighter.
