Is Mylot really that unique?

As I look through the discussion on here every day I see quite a few discussions where the posters native language definitly isn't English. This leads me to ask "Isn't there something like Mylot in their own region that would use their language?". I'd do a search to find out but since it would be in another language I wouldn't know if I'd found it, their local news or something totally off the wall. So..Are there other version of Mylot in other languages?

Hello Uath, I don't know about other languages, but there is no place like myLot where I could speak in Romanian. Of course, there are a lot of forums where we can speak about different topics, but there is no place that also pays us for doing this. But I think this is one of the good things myLot offers to me: the posibility to improve my English skills.

Well I have to say your English skills are far far better than some I've seen posting on here. There have been some that even though the were in English I still felt I needed a translator. So, any theories why there isn't a Romanian version?

Hello Inu, since english is most easy to understand to most people, it's been considered universal language to most people around the world. Well, before it was latin but now english seemed more better. A lot actually go here for the english speaking practice.as for me, writing it seemed a bit better I think.

That's actually interesting, I have noticed that alot of our members do speak other languages other than English, but I really haven't noticed or search to see if mylot offers other versions for various types of languages. That would be interested to know.

So far it appears there's no Romanian or Turkish versions. If this thread stays active maybe we'll get responses from other regions as well.

Hello fabs, well, that is not allowed I think. Though when ever I put another language, I would add a translation to it. Unfortunately, mylot only offers english language but if you put another language, make sure that there is a english translation there alright.

Well just for the record, there ain't no Philippine or Filipino version either, Filipino forums that discuss certain things ,yes. Filipino forums like what we do on my lot, and get paid? definitely no.

Yes it is a good idea! But i don't think Mylot is having any thing like that! But at the same time, I feel it is the versatility of this site which is drawing many members accross the World to participate on this forum by using the a common language 'English'! Here I have seen many people who hardly can make a good sentense in English, but they are regularly participating here, just because of the interest they have developed for this site. Mylot is a site where we can talk about anything we want to, without any restriction in a sober language. The strict vigilence of the site holders make us very comfortable as there is absolutely no abusive language seen on this site. Here every one is made feel special! So with so many features to pamper one self this site is also paying some thing, which I know is not a big amount to the members! So why not all from different regions of the World must interact here with each othet to exchannge our culture, personal experiences, international problems etc, instead of sticking ourselves to our local or regional sites? Thanks !

I think you make a good point there about exchanging culture, personal experiences, and international problems. As you mention, it is true that this would be inhibited by focusing in local sites.

It is really hard to talk in english. Im not good in speaking in english, but Im doing my best to explain my opinions and ideas. Many people are not fluent in speaking this language, so maybe it's alright if they explain something and discuss even though their not good in english.

Yes I think mylot is unique. I haven't found any similar site that pay for discussion, maybe I didn't know. And because in mylot we have to use english, that makes it fair for everyone universally. I found mylot interesting and I'm only here in my second day. My native languange is not english, so I have make some effort to write here, but I think I might enjoy it.

Well, welcome to mylot. writing will come easier with practice. Including non native english speakers is one of the things that has attracted me most in mylot. Draws people from many countries and all walks of life into an environment we can all enjoy and perhaps learn from.

Hello uath, For me, mylot is unique because it doesn't encourage people to hate but care for each other. Therefore, it's unique. The only problem is the rating system where people can abuse it most specially mylot has a no way to detect these people who have multiple accounts that abuse some ones star by neg rating them. If there is another version, it wouldn't be mylot and besides, it's an english site.

You know, i was wondering why people's star numbers change backwards so often and did not realize that people can abuse this rating system.

I think myLot is pretty unique. Most forums have a small set of topics that they cover in depth plus maybe a general chatter category. myLot is a site where you can actually discuss just about anything -- it's incredibly easy to create a new interest and populate it with new discussions. It's also the most trustworthy discussion site that pays by far...there are other paying forums, but most seem to die within a year. Incidentally, I've long thought that one way myLot could expand is by opening up localized discussion sites for different countries that allow posting in languages other than English. So far this hasn't happened, perhaps due to the difficulty of finding and hiring new moderators.

That would be a good idea, local versions could be done in their native language & possibly have a translator program to post it on the main Mylot.

hi uath13 yes indeed my lot is unique . we do not have any damnable' chat rooms to take away from our discussions, we also get paid for what we post and having one or a dozen like mylot in other languages would really stop mylots uniqueness as here we all learn while we earn.Alo so by letting peoples from all over come here we here in the US find ourselves becoming much less isolated. We learn others customs and cultures. I feel so happy having found mylot when I was in need of something worthwhile to do with all my retirement time.

That'd be nice but I think it's better if we can socialize with other people from different countries. It's good to learn more from them and their culture.

I didn't say it wasn't good, a little difficult to understand at times, but still good. I was just wondering if there were similar things to mylot in other countries using their native languages.

I can only speak for the other non-English languages I know, and I do not think something similar exists in them. So yeah, I would say MyLot is pretty unique!

So far with my limited experience in discussion forums, i would have to say that mylot is a bit unique because of the language thing. People that want to learn english can do so with direct communication instead of only through books. Most of us are aware that English is fast becoming the major global language and mylot gives us the opportunity to practice reading and writing. In the short time i have been with mylot, i have actually seen progress in some of the non native english writers here on mylot.

Ah i guess this is quite a interesting one but i dont have any idea dose mylot have some versions in any other language but then now i guess if they dont have one the admin can think about havin one so that people may be able to have their discussions in their prefered language for that they will not find it hard to just enjoy the fun here.May be they can have the very same stuffs for everyone in different languages that the user wants.
