Regis just announced this morning that he's finally quitting the show after over 25yrs on the show. Do you think it's about time that he retired? Do you think he should continue on the show? Who do you think would make a good replacement for Regis?
I myself don't care either way as I don't watch the show much. I know he's a bit of a tv icon sorta speak and I just happened to tune in because I made a trade w/ my son if he wanted to go online @ PBS Kids that I got the tv!

I remember him having a syndicated TV show similar to the tonight show in the late sixties. I think the man is 79 years old. Better for him to enjoy life instead of continuing with the rigors of a TV show where he probably has to get up at 4 in the morning every day.

He hosted the original Who Wants to Be A Milionaire show for many years. And he was a talk show host back in the 70's I believe.

He was also Joey Bishop's sidekick on a late night talk show in the '60' or '70's.

I do not normally watch the show either. I'm not much of a TV person, and I've never really gotten used to Kelly Ripa.. I'm not saying I dislike her.. I just don't necessarily like her.
As far as Regis quitting.. well, yeah, he can't do it forever, so now's as good a time as any. Hasn't he had health problems recently?

I think he has had some health problems over the years but I can't say how recent anything has happened to him.

I don't really follow any celebrity that closely.. but I do remember hearing in recent years that Regis had some health problems. Time passes quickly so what may have been a year ago in my head could actually have been more like 5 years ago, you know how it is.

I used to watch bits and pieces of it on occasion but now I only watch if they are supposed to have a guest I want to see. I have the TV on when it is on but I am back in my office working and instead of having the TV on that channel, I usually have it on The Doctors these days at that time period. I really don't see a good replacement being available; I can't think of anyone who would fit.

I don't watch it as I can't stand the Kelly and Kathie Lee co hosts. They are so self righteous and arrogant (kathie more than kelly) and then try to act stupid for a laugh or sympathy and I dont' care about how they do with their kids or husbands and frankly, neither one of them ever have anything of any sense or intelligence to say. Regis...he's okay, but after 25 years...why not more on if he wants to. He's done so much and started Millionaire and other things...could be too, he is tried of the blonde bimbos he is partnered with on the show! I mean the whole first half of the hour was them bantering around about themselves and the female always degrading Regis (kind of like Marie and Donny Osmond..she was always putting him down). But there is nothing either have to say that I can see 1/2 hour of it every day!

I never really watch the show myself but 25 years is a long time and maybe he needs to quit and have some time for himself and his family to enjoy the rest of his years.

Yes, I think that he is probably ready to rest some and possibly retire from television. He seems to be wanting to leave the show and that is a sign that he is tired of doing it. With over 25 years, I would say that the routine is just that routine and he might be looking to move onto something else.

Yeah I saw a blurb on it on aol news. I think that he will be missed and the show won't be the same without him. I don't think he should leave, but he is getting old and may want to stay home or venture to new things. I hardly tune in to the show eithere.

You should only host a show as long as you are happy with it. There will always be a time when you think you have said and done enough. Regis may have come to this crossroads in his hosting life. He will be missed though. @hardworkinggurl (37062)

I did not know this as I have never really seen the show. I have seen bits at some point but never really cared for the show. I suppose they will spice it up a bit as Opera will not be available. LOL
So perhaps it will be someone with musical career, as this is what most shows do. It is nice that he did his time so time to live what is left of his life.
