Many of us struggled hard when we were still in college especially those whose family isn't financially stable. Apart from the personal problems of individual growth and heartaches...lol... College life has a lot of checklist expenses wherein almost no centavo left in your pocket. I had a part time job as a sales agent... It was not easy. I sometimes need to sacrifice my attendants in school. What about you guys who are in college, what do you do to survive? or you guys who successfully manage college days, share your thoughts for our friends who are still struggling these days.

When I was at college, my parents paid all of my education fee and living cost. I did not have to worry about it. I was very happy and appreciative for what they did for me that I could finish my college without any difficulty. Back to the time when I was at college, I also did some odd job for some small money though it could not compare with the money my parents supported me with. Now my son is at college and as parents, we are supporting him for everything at college. It is our culture to pay for our kids education fee till they graduate from college. Take care, babyEj.

I value much education, for it is the only thing that could not be taken away from us. Aside from it would be a good step in attaining one's goal. I remember while I'm in college, I'm working at the same time then. When I'm in a graveyard shift,it's really hard to be in focus while in school amidst the ongoing discussion. I also tried tutorial services. I have to wake up early for I have to meet my grade school students before I go to my class in college. Same with in the afternoon, I have to go home early for I have another set of students to teach in the afternoon. But I did enjoy especially when I think of having a degree out of all those sacrifices.

I was a working student when I was back in college. I worked and study full-time. I worked for straight eight hours, from early morning to afternoon and the evening was spent for attending classes. Tuition fees were covered by the company I worked for but the weekly allowance was from me or my family. Money was not easy to come by during my college life. There was even a time I have to attend class on an empty stomach, that was how hard it was. But, looking back, I was glad it happened because I treasure the achievement of graduating college and earning more than the minimum wage.

wow! it's true that experience helps you to acknowledge the beauty of life... especially when dreams are at hand. I was then working but my grandparents and parents didn't know until I graduated. I don't want them to worry but I think hiding it from them didn't do good. ANyway... cheers! for bright future!!

well, college life has been one of the best years of my life, the fun, excitement that it brought me, but one things is for sure the learnings that I had when I was in college. In order for one to survive college is choose your set of peers or friends, this way friends keep a lending hand when you are short in terms of finances they can help you and you help them too when they are in need. Some of my friends are doing part time jobs but they really had hard time focusing on their studies. But it was a stepping stone too for being independent. Surviving college life is not as easy as 123 but Im sure to all college guys/gals out there! Be spontaneous and creative, you will be free from burden if you know how to carry oneself, Good luck and Congratulations in advance once you earn your degree!

the collage is a place were life is created and destroyed depending on how we want it to be. life in the collage is filled with a lot of ups and downs. i discovered that the collage is a place were we can express our god given talents, so what i did then is to look out for something am good at and i started using that to make a lot of money, like comedy, singing, dancing, mastering of ceremonies.....lol.....i tell you the real fact if all of us can look inward and see that we can do a lot collage life will be very easy for us.........there is a gift in every man lets use it and achieve a better life

Good to know that you use up your talents and earn money from it. I know that wasn't easy there were obstacles in life that sometimes stopped you to do so, because that is life. But on the other picture I have seen that there are students who are distracted caused of many things. Plus the hardships they encounter so they end up miserable.

When I was in college as early I was already working on a part time job. I have to divide my time with work and study. A godfather of mine help me all through it all. He hired me to work on his office and help out in my financial expenses. I would not have been what I am now without his support. Working while studying was quite hard but I consider it a blessing. By doing so, I have realized the value of money and it also trained me how to cope with life now that I have my own family.

I did all my college classes online so i wasnt worried about having to be ontime in a class or anything like that. I did of course have test to do every week since each class was only a month long and really i think its easier this way. I did all my work and everything online at night when i got home from working full time and its the easiest way to go when doing college now a days. I believe it is more expensive and i know now i am paying on two college loans as i was unable to get any financial aid or any grants and it was very hard on me and is still hard on me because i really dont make enough money at all.

It was very hard going through college. I have to be away from my family and I have to strive hard to maintain good grades. I just live my life day by day at that time. But I admit, I was really stressed out that time. I do not have any sleep, I don't eat regulary, there is nothing for me to than to go to school and be back to my dormitory to do my requirements. It was very tough. And being tough may be the answer why I graduated college. ;)

College wasn't that difficult for me financially because my parents got me an Educational Plan when i was a kid! The good news too was I went to a university subsidized by the government so the tuition fee was really cheap. However, it's not easy to get into that university or to maintain being there, but I did it. To those who was not as lucky as me, I think it's really difficult to struggle with the finances. Getting a scholarship would be better or finding a part time job would be goo.

When I was in college I see to it that I balance everything out. During the day, I would study hard for all of our subjects, especially when we have an examinations. But when the day is done, I see to it that I find a little time to play games. For me, if I only study hard and there is no time for relaxation, I would have got too much stress. And that is not good for you. Also I see to it that I still have plenty of sleep everyday even though I have to do to many homeworks. I also usually study during the morning and not in the evening. In this way, my mind is fresh and i could think more freely.

My father is a farmer and my mother is a house wife. Those are the odds that I have to consider just by merely deciding whether to go to college back then. Besides I am only an average learner so I cant avail scholarship grants. So back then it was pure heart to finish college was my weapon. Also I am forced to make myself be resourceful. I help my classmates do their project in exchange for some parts or so that I can use some items for my own project. I also have to budget my scarce allowance just to survive(see full article here - http://beaneagle.blogspot.com/2009/11/perseverance.html). I say if you have to heart to finish what you have started you'll have it. We'll i'm but proud that I have not resorted to anything illegal just to continue, for I believe that if you mix it with studying, you will just end up losing grip of what you've been dreaming.

I was a working-student back my college life. I have to study in the day and work at night. Because we're not well off, I started working after hi-school. With all modesty, i say that i had excellent performance i was regularized in the job, received good salary and was doing accounting and bookkeeping staff and was later at a quality assurance department under a Mitsubishi sub-component. I never resigned at my job. It was a tough thing to do studying at day and working at evening completing an eight-hour job. I could only have 2-4 hours of sleep but my determination and discipline urge me to purse these two tasks together. I was never absent in my class nor in my job. College requires projects and real lot of spending. I only buy what is necessary for me - the basic ones. I set aside my cravings for shoes, clothes and other wants. I accepted extra jobs such as being a talent manager, voice recorder, disc jockey at our local college station, and being an agent at a digital photograph center during in between my class hours. I took every vacant time doing these tasks to earn additional income for my studies and for my family. Thank God i survived! Looking back, i could only smile and sigh. It took me a lot of sacrifices, discipline, hard work, frugality and simplicity to earn my college degree and at the same time help my family.

Some of my classmates are also came from the not-so-good condition family, but as i know, they work very in their study and the do the part time jobs outside the college, they think that's the best way to enjoy the collede life.
