No our Caique can't talk, I'm not sure if they have that ability. If they do, he shows no interest in it lol. He is also not a rescue, we got him from PetSmart (he's actually my sisters bird). I'm weird and consider my Betta a rescue because when i get new Betta's (the only kind of fish I ever own) I always get the less/none colorful ones, because I assume everyone else will be wanting the bright colored ones. The love birds case is very difficult...we would hold her when we first got her, but she always bit, so gradually we stopped holding her. We just discussed trying again to get her to stop biting while we hold her, so we'll see how it works out. I think as long as you have a social life, you won't turn into a crazy animal lady. The crazy animal people are the ones who lock themselves in their houses and don't keep a clean living environment for themselves and their animals. I'm actually going to school so I can start an animal sanctuary, so hopefully one day I'll have TONS of babies lol (of course, coming and going because I'll adopt animals out).

I remember at one point, I was decided it would be a great idea to breed guinea pigs. Boy, was I wrong. I ended up with a room full. I ended up giving them for free because I could not clean 10 cages on my own and keep up with it all. My fiancee is a nurse, so I don't get much help, even though she owns half the animals. Haha.

Aww, that's so cute. Most of our pets are rescues as well. All of the dogs are, and the guinea pig. Zazu our parrot was purchased from a breeder though. Does your Caique talk? Our Zazu who is only going on 1 year old can already say a few things. Is your Caique tame? How about your love bird? I have always wanted one, but I am too afraid to turn into the crazy animal lady. (Let's face it, I'm almost there already) Is the lovebird hand tamed?

Oh, fan tailed pigeons. How are those as pets? I've never discussed that with anyone before. Are they more something to look at, or can you interact with them?

They look like a regular pigeon but the tail is in the shape of a semi circular fan. They have to be let out everyday as their diet includes seeds with a bit of mud in the open.Their tail hinders their flight and they can fly only up to 8-10 feet. You can interact with them in the sense that they are tame and can be trained to come out of their cage take fresh air and return back to their cages on our saying so.They do not mind if we catch them and and perch comfortably on our hand and shoulder.I guess they can be trained for more but i haven't tried as yet.

Thanks for the insight. I believe I have seen some at an animal auction I attended out of town. They looked pretty. But yes I would imagine that their tail feathers would hinder their flight.

At one point in time, when I lived in the country, about 7 yrs ago, I had 4 dogs, 1 cat, ducks, chickens, goats, a lamb and a horse. I know have 8 dogs, 4 inside, 3 of which are grown, one is a pup. And I have 4 in a kennel outside, the pups brother and 3 sisters. However, the pups are up for adoption to a forever home, and one of the inside dogs is going to a friend of mine. So before long I will have 3 inside dogs and that will be all. Two of the inside dogs are actually my oldest daughter's, I'm keeping them for her for a while to see if her 5 month old little boy grows out of his allergic reaction to their hair.

Butterfly dog? Is this a new breed? And that's great that you have a tortoise! How does he make for a pet?

If our town ordinance would allow, I would love to have a lot of animals. Right now, we are at our limit on pets. We can have 3. We have Isabella (Izzy for short) - Short haired Chihuahua. Cooper - Weenie Dog. Holly - Long Haired Chihuahua. Though we are trying to get rid of Holly. She was a rescue from a kennel, and she's just not friendly. She's too timid, and don't like my boys.

Hi, I have a total of six dogs all of them are half breed of miniature border collie and a japanese spitz. I also have different kinds of fish as another pet but i focused my attention to my dogs. The oldest dog I have is already 17 years of age. Maybe I can consider myself as one of you, a crazy animal lover.
