so im new to this pregnancy thing(im about 1 1/2 months - 2 months) i haven't made it to the doctor and dont know when that will happen.. im a little worried on what im eating. it seems every minute im awake i have a craving for something! i cant stand it sometimes. but i was wondering if its bad to eat too much .. and if by eating certain things it can harm the baby(fetus if you're the technical type). also, can you take over the counter medicines if you get sick while you're pregnant. (i currently have strep throat, and if you dont know what that is, then god must've blessed you.) [: but anyways, any information on early pregnancy what and what-nots would be very helpful. thanks, chu-e lova09 [=

You should very careful on taking medicine at most don't ever take any medicine at all just wait your body to heal and drink plenty of water and take fruits and vegetable. Ask your Doctors what's the best way to be pregnant , When my wife was pregnant she stop working at 5 to 6 months pregnant, take care of your baby it's God 's Blessing.

First of all, stop worrying, that can really be harmful to your baby. Then go and see a doctor, pregnancy can vary from one woman to another, though you can get useful tips from here, it would be great to have an expert's view and advice that really suits your pregnancy. This way you will be sure that you are getting the right advice. Lastly, do not take medicines that arent prescribed by your OB. Some meds are really strong and might affect the growth of the baby. Good luck!

It's not bad to eat too much. Your body is letting you know what it needs. Sometimes you will go through a phase usually early in pregnancy where you don't want anything at all. During this time I just make sure I drink plenty of fluids and snack lightly. There are some things that can harm baby. I would stay away from any raw meats, eggs, fish etc. The doctor office should give you a list or dos and don'ts when it comes to meds. Even if you haven't seen a dr yet you can just call any obgy and ask and they should give you that info over the phone or just goggle it. For my strep throat they gave me amoxicillian and I think that is fine if you are pregnant but again to be on the safe side just let your dr know that you are pregnant and they will give you something that will not harm the baby.

i am a father of a five year old boy, and since the day that we found out that my wife is pregnant we make sure we get to the doctor at once. so this is the best way to take out all the worry. cravings are natural but you need to start taking vitamins for the child and for yourself as well. about medicine before taking anything you need to consult your doctor for she knows what are the okays and the not okays when it comes to meds. goodluck and congrats.

Dear, i suggest you should go to an OB doctor right away. It is suggested that as early as possible you should see a doctor coz during the firs trimester, there is a great danger of losing the baby and risking your health as well. You should be careful of what you are eating and it is dangerous to buy over the counter medicines for the baby. You should not take medicines that you don't know anything about as all kinds of medicines except the ones recommended by a doctor can harm your baby. You should be drinking vitamins now as recommended by a doctor since at this early stage, the baby is slowly developing. If you love your baby that much, then i suggest to consult a doctor immediately.

Definitely go to someone knowledgeable and experience in caring for pregnant women...be it a midwife or OB. They can answer all your questions. Also, got online with babycenter.com or another site that will answer most of your questions throughout your pregnancy. A good book will help as well. Most people like What to Expect When You're Expecting. I liked it for the technical stuff, but for birth related info, I'd go with something like Ina May's Guide to Childbirth or Gentle Birth Choices. I had two babies at home with an experienced midwife. Regarding eating, just like when you are not pregnant, you should be eating foods as close to natural a state as possible. Less processed foods, good fats, etc. You will read you should stay away from processed lunch meats and soft cheeses. I think there are a few other food types you should steer away from, but I am not recalling all of them...again, the books and websites and doc/midwife will help. It is okay to indulge, but make sure you do not over eat...you are not really eating for 2. You are eating for 1 and 1/4. I think you only need like 300 extra calories per day while pregnant and like 500 per day when nursing. So get those extra hunger pangs taken care of with extra protein and filling healthy foods. You could look into safe natural alternatives to dealing with sickness with homeopathic and herbal remedies. An ND (Naturopathic Doctor) can help you with those if you are interested...some are also midwifes so you could get your health care and pregnancy care in the same place. Congrats and good luck!

See your doctor the soonest possible that you can. It's normal to have cravings during pregnancy especially the first trimester. But avoid to much salty foods and too much sweets. For your info, pregnant women are more prone to develop gestational diabetes (my blood sugar level always goes up during my pregnancies, and I already had 2). Have regular check-ups with your doctor to monitor the development of your baby. You may also start on pre-natal exercises. And don't take unprescribed medicines (always consult with your doctor first). Congratulations on your pregnancy and enjoy the experience. Cheers!

you really need to go to the doctor. i made a mistake in my last pregnancy and neglected going to the doctor for almost the entire duration of my pregnancy (i continue to get a period while pregnant, and i am one of those women who barely gets a belly, so i miscalculated my due date). my baby ended up fine, but i would have been devastated if i had eaten or taken something that would harm her. you can read a million articles and posts on the internet, but a doctor is the best one that can help you
