The incompetent sheriff of Pima county just can't quit digging himself a nice deep hole of stupidity. After sparking a flurry of discussion about the violence related terms used and abused in the over heated political climate, he coins his own violence related term.
"Flame throwers" is his term for everyone who takes issue with him linking the shootings to right wing politics... which he still insists is true, even though he admits there is no connection.
Now that CNN has banned the phrase "in the cross hairs" are they going to apologize when the play vidio, or quote the bumbling "sheriff" during a flame throwing rant?

It's all ridiculous. The guy acted on his own and it really doesn't matter what was in his head...he acted alone. Even if he was influenced by right wing politics....he was still a sick man. Who or what influenced him is not of issue here...if someone is that easily influenced as to kill then it's not the blame of the influencer..it's all on the person that was so easily influenced...pretty simple. I was influenced to smoke when I was ll by the media....am I sueing them? I could, I guess but I'm not that lame...even at 11 I knew not to blame someone else for my own actions. WTF?

Like has been said before, Sheriff Dipstick is just feeling defensive because he knows he had a few chances to arrest this idiot, but didn't, so now he's finding scapegoats.

I find the entire thing ridiculous. I even heard a soundbite of a CNN host apologizing for someone using the term "crosshairs" when talking about a political point.
The sheriff is providing a possible defense, I wonder if he realizes that? If this thing gets big enough the defense attorney could possibly use it to get Loughner a light sentence. Dupnik is an idiot who apparently blindly hates the "right" and doesn't want facts to get in the way of his opinions.

Why not? He didn't let facts lead to an arrest of Jared Loughner for multiple counts of making threats over the phone (that is a crime after all).

Dupnik is in trouble big, and he knows it. Even if anyone took him to task for saying "flame throwers" he wouldn't hear about it. I understand that he received so many angry emails that it crashed the computer system and his email is temporarily off. He let his politics blind him to his job, and I wouldn't be surprised if they cost him his job come next election time.
