keyboard - i like keyboard with large keys.
1. Restart your PC. 2. Press F12 key repeatedly as soon as the PC turns ON. This will bring up the Boot Menu. 3. Choose Diagnostics. 4. Choose the Complete / Full from the list of options. 5. Let the test run which may take about an hour. Make sure you are there in front of the PC for the first 10-15 minutes, because it would need your inputs. 6. This will test the keyboard and USB ports too. 7. This will also verify for you whether the keyboard works when Windows hasn't started. 8. If the entire tests pass and your keyboard are still working after sometime, you have issues with Windows: Start you computer in Safe Mode and check the USB drivers and the keyboard drivers.

pogi253, my eyes crossed and my mind went blank when I say your instructions. All I do on my pc is to browse and type. Nothing else. Thanks for the response. I leave the heavy stuff to my sons, but this one had them stumped. charlesng had a pretty simple answer. I will have to write it down or next time it happens I won't have a clue, again.

What kind of keyboard are you using? You might have pressed the function key (Fn) then another key, that caused your keyboard to display special characters. I'm thinking you are using a laptop, the keys U I O P J K L and M have numbers on them as well right? It's the numpad equivalent in laptops since they can't have full keyboards

You were right about me using a laptop. Charlestng got it right. The symbols with the ones in green are the ones that changed. àààà....\\\\\. Got it!
