The other insurance rejected my claim

Maybe I mismanage the way I handle car accident. I didn't call the police to file a report, and I didn't get much information from the person who hit me. Now, after a several days working on the claim, the other party's insurance informed that they won't pay for the damage to my car. The only lame excuse they would give me is that "Due to the snowy weather, and icy road condition, they won't contribute any payment to the damage of my vehicle". After I heard that statement, I absolutely want to cuss her out. But I restrain myself and be respectful as always. Finally, I have to call my insurance for help, and they promise to surrogate me to pursue this case. Now, something I learn from this accident. 1.I have to call the police no matter what. 2. never give leniency to those illegal immigrants, they simply drive recklessly. 3. never trust anybody. The Mexican who hit my car simply won't take any responsibility aftermath.
