Almost every night here there is someone on the news that has tried to rob a pharmacy or they are hunting that has robbed a pharmacy and it's always for pain medication. It's a rising problem and a scary one too. People that are addicted to this medication on recreational form will do anything sometimes to get it. I heard a report once on the news where they were interviewing the creator of the oxy and roxy versions of pain killers and he said that these pain killers were never meant to be taken by anyone that was going to live for any amount of time. He said that these medicines were known to be highly addictive and they were meant to give relief to cancer victems or people that were dieing and in intense pain. I know of people taking these medicines for backpain. It really scares me how these robberies are becoming daily news. Have you seen pharmacy robberies on your news channel? Are you thinking that pain pill addiction is becoming out of control?

Dear friend, Pain on them might have make them robbers and also the addiction. But robbery is robbery always. Hope it would be better to provide these kinds of medicines more secure places. Supplied to those needed through proper channel. May be I wished a police station would be much secure to sell these kinds of medicines. I feel lots of robbery could be controlled.

My boyfriend actually thought the same way as you do. He thought there should be a place where there was high security. There are people that need the medicines and that would protect them from being robbed too. Thanks for the response.

has been for along time. I know of people that rob thier kin folk for their pain pills for they take up there own before time!. Its a shame that it is so sddictive that sometone thought up the idea that they can either get high on pills or sleep all the time! I dont get it myself. I have only took pain pils for pain after cancer operation and hear operation and get off them as fast as I can HUbby was afraid to get addicted so he took asprin in between his doses. Really didnt matter as he was already ding fromcancer BUt if pain got real bad he would ask me was it time for a pill never took them on his own. ANd no I havent heard of such robberies here.

Pharmacies are being robbed here left and right. There are those cases where people rob their kin but not as much as robbing the places the pills are kept now. Anyone that needs then should surely be allowed...if I were in pain..I would want them too. I just can't believe the lengths that people are going to these days for them. Money, addiction..I don't know which is the fuel but it's scary. Thanks for responding.

Good morning Jill, i haven't heard about any breakins around here but know that there is a big problem . i think alot of is that may not be addicted themselves but break in to get it to resale. I guess the way some of the doctors around here hand it out to people like it was candy they don't have to break in places to get it. I take pain meds every day but i take it like i'm suppose to & not to get high on it like so many do. It is definitely a problem around here.

Don't worry Jo...I answer to most anything that starts with a J..or a B...whichever applies at the moment I think there is a problem too. There has also been a lot on the news about people going to Florida pain clinics and bringing them back here to sell. I guess they are craking down on that a bit. I know there are people that need their medicine and people that take advantage just make it harder for those who do need it. Thanks for responding!

Yes! News of pharmacy robberies nowadays are rampant and not only pharmacies even banks and restaurants and also carnapping and it shocks me. I could not believe this robbers could be this bold! I wonder what the police are doing. How I wish they could be apprehended as soon as possible.

I think that it is a disgrace that people are robbing anyone. No matter if it is a pharmacy, a house or anything else, it is just so wrong. There are plenty of people who start to take medication and they can quickly get addicted to it, this can make them worse and also cause them to do things they may not normally do. The medication they steal can cause them more harm than good, they deserve to be locked up really. Luckily where we are we do not get that many robberies, especially in pharmacies. Too many people seem to think that medication can solve all there problems, whereas the medication could really be the problem.

I'm glad you don't have to worry in your area. It's not been that long ago that it wasn't an issue here either. In the last couple of years there has been a rise in home invasions and pharmacies being robbed. It seems that everytime I turn on the TV there is a pharmacy being robbed. Terrible..just terrible. Thanks for the response.

People always say that things will get worse before they get better. I hope that things do get better in your area soon, it sounds like the area is having a terrible time at the moment. Why is there a need to rob anyone? Things are getting worse as are some people.

It is inconceivable.I have heard of stealing valuable medications from a pharmacy,I have never heard of robbing pain medication of pharmacy, what is more,it is steady on the increase. In my estimation, the robber must have been poor people who are at the end of their tether or ones that robbed it for selling out to ones who want.

Yes..there are those that are having a tough time but I think it's the addiction that makes them do crazy things. Well..I don't know..I suppose it could be the money too. Some responders mentioned it might be a mixture of both. Whighever it is, it's very scary. Thanks for the response.

No I haven't seen any of that, but that's pretty scary. I've heard those things are highly addictive though, so I'm not too surprised.

Hi JenInTN, In India we dont need a doctors' prescription for obtaining almost all the medicines. This makes it easier to get them. I believe that at your place such medicines are available only if you have a prescription. Maybe this is one reason... Not sure though. But here we do not get robberies for medicines we get them for money instead. The pain in now a days more common ailment and people just want to skip / get rid of it ASAP so that they can get back to work or their entertainment- both of which are quite essential these days. Unfortunately, the pain pill is addictive and soon they would need a higher potency / dosage if they continue sticking to a particular brand... I would recommend them something Natural or Ayurvedic as they are non addictive.. but who has the patience to wait Cheers, theSids.

Hi thesids! Yes..here you have to see a doctor and have a prescription. Medicines are very controlled here....or so they are supposed to be..lol. There are some very addictive medications and they really make people act crazy. Thanks for responding.

Yeah it is pretty crazy. I've heard about it in my area but once in a while maybe once a month but yeah that's crazy but people rob it to sell because it costs a lot and they know they can make money from it. If you buy medicine don't go at night... don't go when the store just opened & don't go when it's about to close..

That is very good advice. I hope that everyone reads that. It's scary to think you might be there and something break out. They may need to implement some extra security if the issue gets much worse. Thanks for the response.
