Quality vs Quantity

When you're out of budget but you have to buy something, what type of shopper are you? Are you more of a "quality" shopper who would pay extra or even double for a better yet just a single product just to have more leverage from what you're buying? Or are you the "quantity"person who would rather buy cheaper but more in amount of the product that you're buying? In a situation like that, I'd still go for quality, not quantity. How about you?

Most of my Life, i've went for Quality, but as you know it's more Expensive normally and usually Better for you. But times are Hard and for many people we have to opt-out the quality products for quantity ( Cheaper yes, but more for your Money). Some or indeed All the supermarkets are to Blame, as they want you to Buy more and usually have Offers of quantity over quality. I walk past some of the sections i used to Buy, just because it's just to Expensive to buy. There has to be a happy-medium though, sometimes quality is Better, and can even work out Cheaper, if you know where to Buy it from. Yes, that's a gr8 topic for Disscussion, one that will have many Comments.

greetings! normally i'd prefer quality over quantity. but in your example, i'm out of budget, so i'd rather buy quantity over quality this time. i wouldn't even know when i can buy something again given the lack of budget. so i guess beggars can't be choosers in this case? :)

I think it entirely depends on what it is. If it's something where the quality of it doesn't matter to me, then I will definitely opt for the cheaper one/the one with the better value. However..There are a lot of things that I appreciate quality in.. Such as makeup, soda, etc - and I won't give them up for a "generic" brand even if it means paying more.

It really depends on what the product is. If it's coffee i don't buy dirt! I'll pay the extra for good stuff. Toilet paper is the same way - however if I am really strapped I will buy the cheap stuff (even though I hate it!) I usually go for quantity but on certain things I don't give up quality!

The quality of a product is always been more important to me than quantity. You can buy as many as you want of a product. It only takes one product of good quality to make your shopping worthwhile.

I always prefer quality to quantity, like you and think this should be the attitude of all.

Well, being out of budget does not give you much of an option really. Sometimes you just have to make do with the cheaper one because of limited financial resources. It also depends on what you want to buy. I am not very particular with brands when it comes to some household cleaning items and usually choose the lower priced items for things like muriatic acid, cleansers, bleach and toilet bowl cleaners. But I see to it that I choose products that will touch my skin very well. I do not want to come out of the shower with red rashes all over because I tried a new cheap bath soap. For things like these, I go for quality and tested products.

I suppose it really depends on the item/s. I guess though I would say in between, a while ago when trying to save money I went to the supermarket and bought the cheapest foods. Some things were no different really like dried pasta, as long as it is cooked properly but the steaks however were awful! I used a meat hammer to really bash it down but it was still all chewy and gristle. When it comes to clothes though there is a large chain shop here called Primark, very cheap clothes that don't last as long as expensive brands but you get so much for your money that you can change outfits on a daily basis so I love to shop there.

It depends on several factors- 1. Is is a consumable product? 2. Is it a product where the quality matters? 3. What use am I planning for the product? 4. Is the cheaper price temporary or a permanent phenomenon? 5. Can I store it? As you see, there is no single answer.

id say i will still go for quality. choosing quantity wont be a wise choice. since if you are a neat person and the item got good quality , i will probably last for long compare to the "quantity". but some people enjoys quantity , "the more the better" but for me its quality
