I always think that when it comes to money, a penny saved is a penny earned. If you have any saving tips, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi dear, Increase the savings and reduce the expenditure - this is my new year resolution and I am on the track of it. The methods adopted - Priorities our needs. 1. Most urgent, most important, less urgent, important and less urgent and less important. Spend the money also accordingly. Avoid or ignore all unwanted requirements. Here itself we can save 10-15% of our expenses. Then come to extravagances - think what we spending is really needed. Many items like, unwanted expenses we do. Spending for moves, outside food, miscellaneous additional expenses, unwanted (avoidable or not required) travels, major parties, guest treatment expenses (keep only required), high cost dress, proper shopping, do not waste food and other things, moderate spending, and many more. If we sit and prepare a list of such things and adopt a positive and clever move on these areas, you can save 30-35% of wastage of money. Can you agree with me? Also, regularise fixed expenses like utility expenses, stop whichever we feel need to be stopped. List out all such things. Make a note of all and priorities the order of requirement. Now find what is your income and spend accordingly. Do not adopt anyone else's life style and accept or make a own way of living. The higher income earning people can spend their money in any way they like because they got a lot of money. I don't tell you that stop all at a stretch. Slowly you can go for it. Again, the best part is, once we keep a separate amount of money and once it goes increasing, we will have a feeling of making more and more of it and which in turn make us more happy and regular for the saving. Apart from all, if we have a good amount of hard cash at hand, we can be independent, the money can be used for a best use, it can be a help for any time. Above all, if we have some money for our own, we feel proud enough that it is made out from our own hard work and effort and can be used later on whenever you find a good cause for it. Best of luck and have a nice day. Thank-s

Very well said Thanks 1961! This is very helpful and will definitely adopt your new year resolution. Aside from all the data that was mentioned here, the best thing to save money is to change your outlook in handling expenditures. Yes you are right, the more money you have in hand, the more you will spend. For example, Christmas bonuses. These money we get during holiday season from the institutions or companies we worked for, we don't think of it as hard working money. We see it as a gift. What most of us do is treat ourselves. We buy new gadgets, replace our old phones (even if it's working fine), purchase high end electronics, clothes, parties and so on. These are things we don't really need. It's either we convince ourselves that we get these things as a reward for working hard or we get these as a status symbol. After spending we have to face again the reality that we need to get back to work and earn again. It's just like a routine that is going around annually in our lives. So I guess to start with, we need to change our attitude. We need to have a focus and goal why do we need to save? Where should we spend it to? what important things should we buy? Another example is groceries. These should be done once or twice a month ONLY. My practice is I list all the things I need in one salary cut then I set a budget. Other items that is not on my list are just WANTS not NEEDS and If I spend more than my budget, I have to adjust on other expenses but not touching my savings. Sacrifice is very important in handling money matters especially our savings. After all who will benefit of all of these, it's no other than us or our family. As the world evolves and change even if the prices we are purchasing is as sky high, we can still do something about it.

The best saving that I know is salary-savings= expenses. It means that you have to set aside your saving first before you spend a penny of your salary.Plus limit your dining out or having fast foods.

and if you are going to the store have a list of things that you need to buy. Eat first before you shop so that you will not be entice to buy foods that you don't need at all.

Save your change! This sounds really weird, but you would not believe how fast all that change adds up. I have been doing this for years now, and each time I empty my change, I have at least $100 now, which is a really nice added bonus. Also... try to automate your savings, if possible, so that the amount you want to save is taken from your salary automatically, without you ever seeing it.

Cool! I also save my change. In fact, I have a jar for my change, a separate jar for tips from waiting customers, and another jar for coins I find on the street. I put them in the bank at the end of every year. Thanks for sharing!
