Hi emine I so love to swim as I find it to be great fun. My children were so afraid of water also, so I patiently taught them to swim. At first they always felt like they would sink to the bottom so they always clung on to my neck. One day I slowly took one by one and had them gain confidence. My thinking at first was what if one day they were near a pool and someone accidentally drop them in. Because of their fear I fret that maybe one day someone try to save them and because of the fear they would both drown. So maybe one day you can start slow by walking near the edge of the water. If it becomes way too scary then you can go back another day. The next time go in a little bit more and simply walk long side the edge. It will help you build a little bit of confidence with the water. You might find it quite enjoyable also. So dear it is not a must at all but you mind find it so enjoyable that sometimes you may not want to come out. Have fun.

I wish that I had started young too. My father could swim but I was too scared to go to where the water became deeper and I let my fear take over We had swimming lessons when I was at school but one ay someone threw me into the pool at the deep end and I was scared out of my life! I never went in any more unless my feet were touching the bottom of the pool after that

Swimming Baby - Hey I can Swim just like an adult
Hello emine, I am Puerto Rican, born and raised in the US. Babies can learn to swim even as toddlers as they have no fears. Swimming and water fears are very common so start slow and do not force yourself. You will slowly find that it merely a phobia and maybe soon find how pleasurable it can be. Take a look at the picture you see how the baby covers their mouth as he swims. So it will take time but you too with time can do it.

I know how to swim(the basics) but I don't know how to stay afloat for a long time. But still I don't mind. I love the water! And with the help of our handy dandy life jacket, I can do anything! Except scuba diving of course...hahaha...

Now if I have a life-jacket or something similar then I will venture out a bit further too - but I do feel a bit silly at my age though

I am like you when I am at the sea. I love being at the seaside but I just walk along the water's edge or sit and watch the other people enjoying themselves. It is never too late tolearn I think and, as I said above, when I stop working and have more free time, I intend joining one of the water-gym courses that take place here. Maybe then I will also become more confident and overcome my fears and maybe one day I will swim too. You are younger. Have you some friends who might help you to overcome your fear? You could organise some days out at the sea and maybe they will get you swimming!

I'm like you too. I cannot swim. I don't know how to swim. And the strange thing is that I grew up on an island. When I go to the beach, my children would go and play in the water but I would just walk along the beach near where the waves hit the beach. I won't go into the water.

well for me it's not a must to know how to swim, but it is a big help if you do. don't be afraid of water. maybe you can still enroll in a swimming class. it doesn't matter what your age is, you can still learn.
