Do you feel that the newspaper is a waste of paper?

I honestly think the newspaper is a waste of paper because the news on the newspaper is old news from the previous day.. Also if you think about it- if there is breaking news the newspaper will not have that information anyway so why do people buy the newspaper or subscribe to it? It is on the internet... if you have a smart phone, theres a free application to get the news... yeah some people are on the go and read the newspaper on the bus, pass time or something but I think it's honestly a waste of money and time.. It does create jobs for people {deliever newspaper, print newspaper, recycle} but how many of you subscribe to the newspaper? Do you feel that the newspaper is a waste of paper?

Hi infatuatedbby, for people like me who love to read latest news from different websites daily, of course newspaper is a waste of paper to me for sure. It's really quick to acquire latest information online. But to people like my husband's elder sister and one of my brothers don't like to approach pc, newspaper actually are very valuable to them for this is the only source for them to acquire latest information. They watch tv news as well but local news is limited on broadcast Therefore they have subscribe newspaper and they pick their respective deliveries on time on the doorway daily. My brother would keep some newspaper clippings as further reference. The rest are dump in the corner. He would send the pile of old paper to waste extraction center for recycling Happy posting

hi infat, For me, newspaper's are a waste of money. I usually get my local news from the tv and most other news from the internet. I will buy a paper on the weekend's but it's usually for the coupons and to use on the bottom of my birds cage!! but that's just me. There are still a lot of people who depend on the paper to get there new's like older people who don't have access to the internet or a smartphone. The town where i live, they have cut it down to three day's a week and the weekend. The way things are now, the news is so bad that i don't even want to read it. I also read alot of books so i bought a kindle a couple of months ago and it's great.... but sometimes i like to have a true hard copy of a book or sometimes a paper to read. It seems that books are going the same way as newsprint which is kind of sad. For me, I kind of lose the enjoyable experience of reading if it isn't a hard copy so i hope print doesn't disappear alltogether.

I know that newspaper is still norm amongst all of us, however I am sure that the use of paper for newspaper would stop some day. With the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Blackberry Playbook already on sale and other portable tablet devices coming out, more and more people would subscribe to receive news digitally, if they are willing to pay for the subscription, the same when they buy newspaper. I don't buy newspaper but I can see the news through my smartphone (but not paying for subscription fee). More and more people become embedded and adapted with the technology, but there are some people who still prefer the traditional way rather than be confused and not to be bothered with complicated things.

No i don't think so that newspaper is a waste of paper. As so many people can't watch TV or can't browse internet. So for them it's very essential. And for this reason i don't think so that it's a waste of paper.

My grandfather still reads the newspapers, every single day, it's his main pastime activity, so we subscribe to three different newspapers. I myself get most of my news online, but I have to agree, whenever I read the newspaper they have a lot of interesting in-depth reports that I don't usually find online. We do recycle the newspapers, so I don't feel bad about buying them in the first place.

Well, it depends on the person reading the paper. Newspapers are useful to those that don't know how to use the computer or those that don't have computer or connection to the internet like me. We're just poor so we just buy newspaper to get informed about what's happening around us.

That is really true. I forgot to think about that, like the elderly they read the newspaper and it passes time but I don't buy the newspaper. I watch it on television or read it online. Thanks for sharing.

No, not at all. I think newspapers are a great way to catch up on current events at your own pace. I personally only read newspapers during the weekends, because I don't really have the time to read during the weeks. If I had more time though, I would probably read newspapers during the week as well though...

hi, i dont think so, newspaper is not a waste of paper, trashed newspapers can also have their uses, sometimes they recycle it and they make it paper bags, and this newspapers is very important because news can send in any point of my country,so they can still know what happen in the city.

Sometimes news paper articles are a little more in-depth and personal feeling to it to an article written about the same thing online. Theres sometimes also smaller stories you don't hear about or they don't get a big mention on news, internet so much but a paper will go more in-depth with it.

True. But I still see it as a waste of paper :( Thanks for sharing. :)

Newspapers are made up of recycled paper so I don't think its a waste. Nothing still beats the old fashion way of browsing through the pages and reading the news in print. But then we have to keep up with the times. It's now more practical and convenient to look for the news online that buying a single newspaper. I think newspaper will eventually be phased out but definitely not going to happen in our lifetime.

Yes i too feel the same. Newspaper is a complete waste of paper if you see in today's world. When you can use other sources like your smart phone or even your television set to get the latest news, there's no point in getting a newspaper daily to check out older news. But that dosent mean that the production of newspapers should be stopped abruptly. Rather its production, i.e the no of newspapers published daily should be reduced. Later if everything goes well, you can further reduce it to minimum. For few, newspapers are still a priority over other alternative sources of getting news.

Yeah there should be a minimum of newspaper or maybe they should have an electronic newspaper like the e-book where you subscribe to that to save paper & what not :P Thanks for sharing. :)

errr, you are right. but in my opinion, not all the people have time to read the news ,so it doesnt matter if the information comes from the phone or the paper. and also, maybe your phone is out of power.

Not a lot of people read the news. Out of all my friends, I'm like the only one who reads it on the net. I like to be informed about whats happening around the world, local and etc. My phone is never out of batteries, you can read the news online.. On paper, its just a waste in my opinion. Thanks for sharing. :)

the newspaper is a waste of paper but we still need it nonetheless. In earlier times the newspaper was very important and gave people a lot of jobs. But in a bad economy now and the digital age we still need newspapers to give people jobs. If news was only put in the newspaper then a lot of us would be uninformed. Now newspaper companies are offering subscriptions online so they can still make money. We can get rid of the newspaper when he find a way to get rid of it without losing jobs.
